Hi!My favorite subject.
What are the main reasons Orthodox Jews reject the New Testament?
Messiah didn’t bring peace and all those things he is supposed to do. However he had to be rejected first, Isaiah 53.My favorite subject.
What are the main reasons Orthodox Jews reject the New Testament?
Well, Christians reject a whole range of pious fictions - the Qur’an and the Book of Mormon, to name but two. We just reject one more than Christians. My favorite subject.

helloHi!
May I ask what you mean, exactly, by “reject the New Testament”?
Well, it’s not just Orthodox Jews who don’t accept the whole business. People who believe in Jesus Christ and the basic message of the New Testament are, as far as I’m aware, known as ‘Christians’.hello
I understand that Orthodox Jews, who practice a strict form of Judaism - reject Jesus Christ and the basic message of the New Testament.
. .
In that case, can you provide specific examples of why Orthodox Jews reject Jesus Christ and the basic NT message?Well, it’s not just Orthodox Jews who don’t accept the whole business. You must have some interesting talks with the Samaritans.Well, Christians reject a whole range of pious fictions - the Qur’an and the Book of Mormon, to name but two. We just reject one more than Christians.
Your friends the Muslims and the Mormons claim to believe in Jesus Christ and the basic message of the NT.Well, it’s not just Orthodox Jews who don’t accept the whole business. silly rabbit, confection is for kids. It’s not a case of ‘specific’ examples when one doesn’t accept any of it.
To you, the New Testament is ‘reportage’, to me it’s merely ‘confection’ - in the same sense that the Book of Mormon is to you.
Either you have misunderstood my comment or you will have to explain your answer - I said nothing about the Qur’an and Book of Mormon playing a role in the formation of the NT canon. You must have some interesting talks with the Samaritans.
I don’t rightly recalled, but did you make a comment in being in post-Chrisitan society or post-religious society?
Rejection of the Quran and the Book of Mormon played no role in our formation of the NT canon. The Muslim and Mormons were not among us, and so didn’t need to expel them. The same cannot be said for the formation of the Tanakh and synagogue.
You compared the relationship of the BoM and Quran to the NT to the relationship to the Tanakh/OT.Either you have misunderstood my comment or you will have to explain your answer - I said nothing about the Qur’an and Book of Mormon playing a role in the formation of the NT canon.
No, I said that I viewed the NT in the same way as a Christian would view the Qur’an and Book of Mormon - ie pious fictions. You compared the relationship of the BoM and Quran to the NT to the relationship to the Tanakh/OT.
I just was showing that your comparison was not apt.
You described what you do, but the original question was why (I’ll include with the Orthodox here, although I know that’s not correct) you do it.No, I said that I viewed the NT in the same way as a Christian would view the Qur’an and Book of Mormon - ie pious fictions.
Because it’s all a pious fiction. You described what you do, but the original question was why (I’ll include with the Orthodox here, although I know that’s not correct) you do it.
Tanakh included?Because it’s all a pious fiction.
I didn’t realize that the New Testament included the Tanakh, I thought Christians attached the New Testament at the end of the Tanakh so I said that the NT was a pious fiction. Of course, if in your sect they include the Tanakh in the middle of the NT text, then it would just be the parts that are not in the Tanakh.Tanakh included?
In our CHURCH, we have the OT. Like the Apostles and the majority of Jews in the time of Jesus, we don’t use the Tanakh (which didn’t exist at the time) at all, unlike the Vatican and the Protestants.I didn’t realize that the New Testament included the Tanakh, I thought Christians attached the New Testament at the end of the Tanakh so I said that the NT was a pious fiction. I hope that helps.
Whether the Tanakh is, or is not, pious fiction is orthogonal to the question put which is about why we don’t accept the ‘New Testament’. Whether the Tanakh is ‘pious fiction’ or not is a topic for another thread. In our CHURCH, we have the OT. So, how is the Tanakh not a pious fiction?
Hope that helps.
If Tanach can also be seen as pious fiction then perhaps you may elaborate on the specific flaws you see in the NT. A Jewish rebuttal to my post for example would be good.Whether the Tanakh is, or is not, pious fiction is orthogonal to the question put which is about why we don’t accept the ‘New Testament’. ooooh. We don’t usually use such big words in the US (like “contection”: usually we say “candy,” like “Chicago is the candy capital of the world.” or wasWhether the Tanakh is, or is not, pious fiction is orthogonal
