Hello,

Thank you for your replies. Youre all right. I am going to start just praying daily and searching that way. I think if maybe I stop thinking so much and praying more and keeping my mind open I’ll hear it from God.

I’m just going to focus on whats working in my mind and heart and follow the guidance I get from God…hopefully I will be able to listen and hear it.

Thanks for all your replies!

I have a weird dilemma.

I have become very confused and lost (thus the name!)

In the past year or so I have gotten extremely distanced from Christianity. I have a lot of problems with how things are viewed.

My boyfriend comes from an agnostic/atheist home and he however, has an interest in judaism. So we started researching it together. There is so much I agree with, but my biggest dilemma is the cultural aspect.

I have been going to a synagogue, and I just get the feeling sometimes that I’m such an outsider. I’m not a “real” Jew, and the whole culture is so overwhelming.

I get very lonely for my culture, I’m Italian, Roman Catholic raised.

My boyfriend and I may become engaged very soon, so I think of this now because when I marry, I want to marry on some moral grounds, I want God to be apart of it from the start. I want to know where I stand, but I feel extremely confused. I dont even really feel like I can pray any more.

I dont know how to talk to my boyfriend about this, because I know that he really feels no connection with the Catholic faith. I dont know how to express my concerns, and I dont really know how to even deal with this confusion right now.

I like Judaism because of its emphasis on life, and making the world a better place and bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to earth…Christianity’s emphasis on “you have to die to get to the good part” is very unnerving to me.

And Jesus as the Messiah is very difficult for me. How is it that God became three, became incarnated, and killed himself when God is supposed to be ONE?

I feel like running back to the Church but the thing is, I know when I get there, I’ll still be confused.

Thoughts?! (this is a really vague question I know!)
Please read this book:

Salvation Is from the Jews: The Role of Judaism in Salvation History (Paperback)

Product Description
The book traces the role of Judaism and the Jewish people in God’s plan for the salvation of mankind, from Abraham through the Second Coming, as revealed by the Catholic faith and by a thoughtful examination of history. It will give Christians a deeper understanding of Judaism, both as a religion in itself and as a central component of Christian salvation.
To Jews it reveals the incomprehensible importance, nobility and glory that Judaism most truly has. It examines the unique and central role Judaism plays in the destiny of the world. It documents that throughout history attacks on Jews and Judaism have been rooted not in Christianity, but in the most anti-Christian of forces.

Areas addressed include: the Messianic prophecies in Jewish scripture; the anti-Christian roots of Nazi anti-Semitism; the links between Nazism and Arab anti-Semitism; the theological insights of major Jewish converts; and the role of the Jews in the Second Coming.

From the Publisher
Roy Schoeman grew up studying Judaism under the most prominent Rabbis in American Judaism. After receiving a B.S. from M.I.T. and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, he taught at Harvard.** His conversion to Catholicism led to a dramatic refocus of his activities. **

Thanks for the suggestion! Sorry this post is so late, I am pretty absent minded…

I think I am coming back around to Catholicism. The past week or so has been pretty significant for me. I am praying again and I will be meeting with a priest in the near future. I think I am being called back.

🙂

Thanks for all the help everyone!

I am a muslim. And i would say that this is one of the best posts on this thread. Kanin is trying to tell you that you should separate your love life from your faith quest . And their cant be a more truthful advise. Don’t convert left or right for a man . Seek God independantly. If both of you will end up in faith . There are some ladies who also fall in love with a muslim and convert but they havent gone through to the faith themselves . Then they have a crisis later on.

Contarini is a very well educated Christian whose advise i recomend also when it comes to Christianity.

dont let emotions cloud your judgement. I wish you the best in life.

meedo
There is truth in not converting for someone. People died for their faiths. To leave one for another because you found a guy or girl and NOT because you are convicted it is correct is to insult them

Remember one thing Our Lord Jesus Christ was a jew and is now a Christian.

Why would you choose the lie over the Truth? Idolatry over God? Mythology over the Chosen People of God. I had NO PROBLEMS whatsoever going after the Truth despite the overwhelming lonliness it at times meant enduring… NO REGRETS!

Judaism over Catholism? How is this even a hard choice to make? If you even have to consider, you definitely are not ready for Judaism. The Truth speaks in the very question you ask. When you have it you know. Catholicism is what will appeal to you it seems. Personally, I am going to where the Truth is at any and all costs… Judaism. 🙂

errr… thanks for the recommendation but I have a) the Scriptures and b) an actual live source, given by God, and in accordance with the Scriptures to saturate my mind full of the necessary knowledge.

I am not anti reading by any means… I just cannot promise to get around to it. Most likely, after I post, I will have forgotten about it. 🙂 Thanks though. Should it ever end up in my hands, just like most anything, I probably will read it.

Jesus converted?
Apparently He did because your people would not listen to Him, therefore rejecting Him. The Jews rejected God in the Old Testament as well as the New. They broke the Covenant so many times it had to take forty years to get to the Promised Land. God was so fed up with the Jews, He sent His only Son, Our Lord, your Messiah, Jesus Christ to your people, but they rejected Him and left Him to die.

They didn’t wander for 40 years because they broke a covenant with God. It is always a pleasure to read your unique perspective on Jews. Are you this passionate about other things in your life?

**They most certainly did wander because they broke the Covenant. Why the surprise? It is what it is Valke, and I have no problem about voicing the truth. I am not an anti-semite, or call me what you want, the truth is what it is and I am sure you know it already. I am extremely passionate about Jesus and my Catholic church in which I am a defender of. There is nothing wrong with speaking about the Covenant being broken amongst other things in your Old Testament. **

Um… no. They certainly didn’t. Hashem got upset with their slave like mentality which was typtified in the spies expressing concern that the inhabitants of Canaan were too strong.

I didn’t say there was anything wrong with discussing one of the covenants. I can’t see into your heart to determine if you hate jews, I can only draw conclusions from your posts.

**That is nonsense Valke and you know it. I do not hate Jews, it’s just God forbid you speak out and say anything against you. I will not get into the numerous accounts that are so clear in the Old and New Testaments, because you already know this. You can deny that your people had broken the Covenant a gazillion times and wandered in the desert for forty years but everyone knows this is truth. That’s it. period. **

no. that is not it. But please feel free to tell me what covenant was broken bythe Israelites that caused them to wander in the desert for 40 years. I must have missed that part of Shemos/Exodus.

The Sinai is not that big. 40 years wandering?

I thought it was because Moses refused to stop and ask for directions. 😃

Or, maybe it wasn’t the Covenant that was broken…
