“And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.” Matt. 26:23-25

As a Catholic, I don’t believe in predetermination. If Judas ended up damned, it is because he FREELY CHOSE to betray Jesus. God did not make up Judas’s mind for him.
His greatest sin was not the turning over, but despairing right after, and hanging himself. Despairing against God’s Forgiveness is itself a grave sin, and suicide is self murder, and thus a grave sin.

We do have a free will, but there are those things which seem to be foreordained. For example, when the Savior tells Judas: “Go do what you must do.”
“Do what you must do.” We use this phrase all the time today, and it never means that someone is not freely choosing their actions. In the same way, God has fore-seen/fore-known/fore-ordained everything. This is all part of His Eternal Law. It does not remove human choice.

Thank you to Aramis for mentioning that Judas’ greater sin was despair and suicide.
