**“Judge stops federal funding of embryonic stem cell research” cnn.com/2010/US/08/23/stem.cell.funding/index.html

Wow, there is hope!

The Judge, Royce C. Lamberth, wrote; “The Dickey-Wicker Amendment unambiguously prohibits the use of federal funds for all research in which a human embryo is destroyed,”

In plain english; “Lamberth’s ruling said all embryonic stem cell research involves destroying embryos,”(IE. MURDERING INNOCENT BABIES!)**

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

I was shocked when I heard this. Pleasantly so.

I wonder how long it will be until the ruling gets overturned. 😦 You can bet, though, that the Embryonic stem cell proponents will scream bloody murder (no pun intended) and start trotting out Michael Fox and other celebs who have children with chronic diseases that can be “cured” through ESC research.

Get ready for the hateful rhetoric.

Well, you can tell those people to look up adult stem cell research. Which is completely ethical, and actually works unlike ESCR.

I am truly shocked from this ruling. I guess the Usurper doesn’t always get what he wants.

Yes and no. The judge said that embryonic stem cell research (ESCR) involved the destruction of embryos, and thus violated a federal law (the Dickey-Wicker amendment) regarding the federal funding of research. However, the judge did not make any statement regarding human life or murder.

I don’t think the judge’s ruling will be overturned. It seems pretty solid, and such a ruling had been predicted for years. The issue of funding such research simply hadn’t been challenged until now.

What might happen is a push to remove the Dickey-Warner amendment, or at least modify it to allow for some funding of ESCR.
