Agreed. I just came across the article and thought i would share itJesus Himself said that nobody, that is nobody, knows the day or hour except the Father.
I think that attempting to assign a ‘date’ is silly at best and near-blasphemous at worst.
Aw, shucks. They say May 21 2011 party over, oops out of time…so tonight we’re gonna party like it’s…
crud, the rhyme doesn’t work![]()
I got back in her good graces - weeeooo!Interesting enough, I did just yesterday have a very interesting discussion with a Messianic Jewish scholar (PhD)… She told me that the phrase “no one knows the hour or the day” (ref. 2nd comming) used in the bible was a well known Jewish idiom. It meant that there is a calendar period where the moon is not observable for 3 days and so it was impossible for Jewish priests to establish the Jewish feast days until it was observable. This condition is rare but is coincidentally scheduled to happen in 2011 - I forget which day. She is an author and is often consulted by high level Jewish officials in Israel. We were going to date (no eschatological pun intended) but she got miffed at me over a silly little comment I made and broke off communication. I may have to see if I can get back in her good graces and fish for more info…

Haha!! we shall seeThink they’ll be surprised when May 22 rolls around?
Sigh, she won’t give me the exact date since she is “sworn to secrecy”. But she said “no one should buy any green bananas toward the end of 2011…”I got back in her good graces - weeeooo!
She told me that Yom Teruah or Rosh Hashanah has a command for two witnesses to visually see the moon (Tractate Rosh Hashana ) but that in 2011 the moon will not be visible for 3 days. So there is some eschatological implication here that the 2nd coming could occur in this period where its physically impossible for any witness to know the “hour or the day” of the Lord with respect to the feast days and calendar. Intriguing theory…

That’s just silly. Everyone knows it will happen in 2012!
I am never more envious of Catholics/Orthodox than on the subjects of evolution and eschatology. Catholics simply don’t lose their minds over this sort of thing. The catechism is calm. If the pope has anything to say about the end of the world, it must be edited out. You’d never hear Benedict going on like Tim Lahaye. (Too bad Art Bell isn’t on Christian radio.)
I’m sure Catholics and Orthodox have their hysterical eschatology committees like every other religion, and I’m sure Fr. So and So is out there in the road with a placard proclaiming the end, but you just get the impression that Catholics are in the “it will all work out” camp, and they aren’t going to get in the bunker with Ned Flanders. Have a beer. Go to a Barbeque. Don’t start screaming. No one likes a religion with people screaming.
That is the brainchild of Dr. Harold Camping who claims that God revealed to him how to properly interpret certain scriptural passages so that we now know when Christ will come again and rapture his people. He claims that until God gave him this insight, mankind was kept in ignorance of this by the good God, so it’s not really anyone’s fault that they did not know this, because God had not enlightened anyone’s mind as yet, and Harold happened to be the one he enlightened. However, if you belong to a church, you are in big trouble, because you will be left behind to suffer the consequences. He is not associated with the authors of the Left Behind books. You must leave your church and become a true believer. But there is another date that has been revealed to Harold–in October of that year, everything comes to an end.
It’s the day before my sister’s fortieth birthday. Who knows, maybe she’d be somewhat pleased not to hit the big 4-0?Well…that’s my brother-in-law’s birthday. He’s gonna be bummed out that it’s also the end of the world.![]()
