Over the past I have gone to different websites, some fundamentalist and some from liturgical traditions.

Although I have also seen some judgements made on very Traditional Catholic websites, they are usually posted in general terms.

But I find that on both of the other websites such hatred shown to Catholics that I have a difficult time believing that many of the posters are Christians.

One thread went on and on about Mother Theresa not being a Christian, that her only feat was taking care of the sick in India. That would not get her to Heaven. Well not one of them have been to India or Muslims countries to preach the Gospel and yet they find fault with her. She did preach the Gospel, not by words but by actions.

On other websites which are from liturgicall traditions they also rake the Catholic Church over the coals. Some compare the Pope to the Anti Christ etc.

I was wondering if this hatred and false witness against the Catholic Church and Catholics will lead these people to be judged to Hell. I am not saying they must agree with our doctrines, but for them to actually judge individuals and whole groups to Hell for being Catholic, are they not also condemning themselves to Hell? Jesus said we would be judged as we judge others.

We can judge behavior as being wrong, but we should not judge whether a person goes to Heaven or Hell, that is only for God to decide. Many claim to be Bible based, but it appears that they only read the parts that pertain to their own beliefs, that would probably be less than 1/3 of the New Testament.

I believe that if a person who has never had the opportunity to know Christ and lives a holy life that at some point our Lord gives them the chance to accept Him or reject Him.

Why aren’t these fundamentalist going to Muslim, Hindu and Jewish countries and converting all to Christ? The only ones they seem to want to convert are Catholics and Orthodox. I guess that it is much safer for them, their lives won’t be in danger as it would in many countries.

Just some thoughts I needed some feedback from Catholics or non Catholics.

Bernadette,
I hope none of the websites you visited that talked like this were Lutheran. I cringe at the thought. The LCMS makes clear that, while we have doctrinal differences, the CC is indeed a Christian Church, and members are indeed Christian and salvation is accorded to them in the same way it is accorded to Lutherans: By grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ.

Scripture does not say: if you believe and are baptized and are Lutheran you will be saved.

I usually don’t pay attention to these websites on the Internet.

This reminds me of a poem I read. When we get to heaven and see all those we had thought to be facing hell, we are greeted with a hush because no one had expected to see us there! Moral of the story. Judge not.
