in observance of Shavuos , in which believing and observant Jews re-enact and commemorate the Revelation at Sinai. Jews will spend much of the next 48 hours in prayer and reflective study. In fact, tonight (Tuesday), many will spend the entire night in religious study.

The Jews celebrate the revelation and covenant at Sinai – for good reason, of course.

Christians celebrate the new covenant which began at the Lord’s passover supper, but the thrust of the celebration is different. It’s more somber.

It’s too bad – I think – that we don’t have at least one celebration per year about our Jewish heritage.

Ah, but don’t we already celebrate Shabhu’oth/Shavuot/Shavuos in some way - Pentecost? 😛
