Jussie Smollett's double jeopardy claim tossed out by judge

Jussie Smollett took another hit in court on Friday when a judge shot down the actor's attempt to have the criminal charges against him dropped, telling Smollett that the new charges against him do not violate his right against double jeopardy -- being charged twice for the same crime.

That was a little silly. Double jeopardy applies to actual trials, not to charges that are dropped and then reinstated.

Good - Smollet deserves to go to trial and have his day in court.

Sadly, he created a hoax, it was race bating. He was fortunate that it was swept under the rug and he could have went about his life. Instead he walks out of the Court and begins disparaging the Chicago police and attempted to continue the hoax … sheesh … he should have remained silent.
