I was SURE that the Catholic Church was wrong…but after a long journey of reading, praying, discussing and meditating the Spirit showed me that the fulness of Truth is contained in the Church instituted by Christ Himself…the Catholic Church.

Why do you not see Catholics carrying Bibles to Church? Because it is unnecessary. The Scripture readings are read by members of the congregation (and a deacon or priest in the case of the Gospel reading) from the pulpit. If you wish to follow along, the Missal contains all the Scripture readings (and you don’t have to flip through your Bible trying to find the right reference). The Mass is FULL of Scripture. On average, far more Scripture is read during the Mass than in an Evangelical Protestant service. (I’m a former Evangelical…I know this from first hand experience). A typical Mass includes an Old Testament reading, a Psalm, an Epistle reading, and a Gospel reading. (As well, other parts of the liturgy are directly or indirectly taken from Scripture).

God bless.

In Christ,
Tyler

I have just a few questions
1- Where does it say in the Bible that Mary was sinless?
2- Where does it say in the Bible that it is ok for sinful man to change the word of God?
3- Where does it talk in the Bible about purgetory?
4- Where does it say in the Bible to pray the rosery as pentence for sin?
5- Where does it talk in the Bible about the assumption of Mary?
6- Where does it talk in the Bible about baptizing baby’s?
7- Where does it talk in the Bible about mortal and veneul sins?
8- How come you hardly ever see a Catholic carry a Bible to a Mass?
I have many more questions that I will ask later. Thanks for your time.
You should ask one question at a time, preferably you should start a thread for each question.

Just to address your last question, since others have already posted links concerning the others, I just want to know **where in the Bible does it say that you should carry your Bible to Mass? **

OuDave,

I’ll just focus on this one.

These are some Bible references to Mary.

I was sleeping, but my heart kept vigil;
I heard my lover knocking:
"Open to me, my sister, my beloved,
my dove, my perfect one! (Song of Songs 5:2)

You are all-beautiful, my beloved,
and there is no blemish in you. (Song of Songs 4:7)

Protesters often disagree about the Catholic doctrine of Original Sin. They are trying to say that babies and young children are innocent and have no sin. Then they question why Mary was sinless. Isn’t it a contradiction? The Catholic doctrines only proves right.

God Bless,

Pio

You should read the book, Song of Solomon. It is very clear that it is not talking of Mary.

It is obvious that you want to restrict all answers to THE BIBLE. That means you are a “Bible-Only, Sola Scriptura” Protestant.
I will address 7 of your questions with one answer!

Questions 1 thru’7 are"Where does it TALK in the Bible" and Qs #1 & 2 are "Where does it SAY in the Bible.

My good Sir, Bibles can’t talk, so a Bible can’t talk to tell you a thing. Where does it SAY? Bibles can’t SAY anything…WAKE UP MAGEE!

An answer to a question from the Bible. What verse of the Bible indicates that Mary was sinless? TRY LUKE1: v 28. “And the Angel being come in, said to her : Hail, Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee: Blessed art thou among women”.

Hail, Mary, FULL of Grace, is the greatest share of devine graces given to any creature].( Grace = a gratuious GIFT from God)

The Angel was a messenger from God. Will an Angel lie? The Angel said Mary was FULL OF GRACE. That means full, full, full. If she and her soul was FULL of Grace…there is no room for evilness, for wrongness - she had no Room for sin in her soul, why? An Angel had told her that, thats why. Since Mary was concieved without the stain of Original Sin - she didnt even have that sin. What’s your problem with not wanting to allow GOD to prepare a perfect vessel for His only Son.

Would you prefer that God sent His Son to spend 9 months inside a sinful woman? I would not.

You asked for a Bible verse - I gave you the defining verse.👋

ALSO: See Isaias7:1 - 17, Micheas 5:2 & 3, Jeremias 31:22.

(if a cup is full of water, how much more can you put in the cup?)

You bet I am Bible only. The Bible I God breathed. God spoke to the authors on what to write. I put my faith in God and not what man adds and takes away. The catholic church leaders have changed so many things due to there PRIDE. Can you really believe that the pope cannot be wrong. Just look at all the cover up’s of sexual abuse from priests. they just send them to other churches and hide it under the carpet, meanwhile peoples lives are being torn apart. REAL LOVING! Wake up and quit following a church that is leading you down the path of destruction.

oudave,

Who taught you what you believe the bible “says”? Either you ‘figured’ it all out for yourself or you had a teacher. If you had a teacher, who taught them? How can you be sure the person who taught you got it right? If you figured it out for yourself, how can you be sure that you got it right?

Whether you want to admit it or not, it boils down to a question of authority. Who has the authority to teach? In fact, there is only one teacher with authority granted from Christ himself…you guessed it…the Catholic Church.

You can go on and on about what you think scripture means, but at the end of the day, it is just your opinion or the opinion of someone who taught it to you. The fact that their are many different protestants denominations is an undeniable testament to this fact.

May God Bless you and grant you the grace to seek his Truth.

Where do you get that Christ only granted the catholic church the right to teach? We are all to teach through word or the way we live our lives. I do not belong to a denomination. Denominational churches start adding the laws of there leaders to the word of God. There is only one church, Christ’s church. All other churches have gone astray. God sent us a love letter. Pray for God to open your eye’s and study it, learn it, believe it and you to will be saved.

oudave,

The Catholic Church is the church Christ founded. We have historical evidence for this claim – do you have evidence for your claims?

I agree that we should teach by what we say and do, but how do YOU know what you teach is correct? I have the teachings of the one, holy, catholic, apostolic church to guide me – what do you have (and don’t say the Bible alone – we’ve been down that road already).

I still haven’t seen a response to another poster’s request for you to prove your organization’s claim of apostolic authority. Please help us understand how you can make the claims you do.

God Bless,

Joel

You’ve got me convinced OUDAVE. I’m headed straight for whatever church you say to go to.
Please post the name of the church so I may attend immediately.

Actually, when you started saying “I think” on your other threads, well that was enough for me, really. Who can resist “I think”?? Only a fool or papist, (same thing).
I just have a small question:
You recited that “ALL have sinned…”
Am I to assume that you include all of natural birth? Do mean infants are under sin or are they excluded somehow from the “ALL” ? If so, how so?

Thanks for the teaching,
Sincerely,
Your convert-in-the-making

Where in the Bible does it say it’s “God-breathed”? Where in the Bible can I find a list of the books that belong in the Bible? Isn’t there, huh? Then how will I know? Oh. The Catholic Church said it. And the Catholic Church drew up a list of the table of contents, accepting some writings and rejecting others. Hmmmm.

You’ve got a lot to learn, oudave. Better get to studying. That would be a really good New Year’s Resolution for you. Resolve to find out where we got the Bible, what the New Testament is, who wrote it and when – and why. Also, find out why there are no originals in the sacred author’s own handwriting. Did you know that only the originals are the “inspired Word of God”? Yep. For a fact. :yup: And we don’t have a single one of the original writings. The oldest nealy complete Greek manuscript copies we have are from the fourth century. Imagine that. How many copies intervened between the originals and the first surviving fourth century copy? No one knows.:nope: Oh, dear! What shall we do? Every copy of every Bible in existence ultimately came from a copy that was made by Catholic hands. The Bible has been contaminated by the Catholics, who had exclusive possession of it for over a thousand years! Who knows what they might have done to it? They copied it by hand for fifteen centuries! That’s ample time to change it, forge it, make it say what they wanted it to say. I sure wouldn’t trust my Bible if I were you!

Oudave: The Pope was most likely not involved in any cover-ups. Not everything comes to the attention of the Pope…the Catholic Church is HUGE. It was individual bishops in certain dioceses that covered up for their priests. Were these bishops and offending priests wrong? Of course they were! Were they following Christ? No! But that does not mean that the Catholic Church is not Christ’s Church. I could point to sin and errors made by Protestants of various churches throughout history. Protestants sin as well. You shouldn’t judge the pope. If you read what he says, and see what he endures with his physical condition, you would see Christ’s love radiating from him. There have been sinful bishops and priests, but there are also loving and Christ-like ones who get ignored by enemies of the Church.
Consider the following:
  1. Christ promised that there would be both good and bad people in the Church. (Matthew 13:47-48; 13:24-30)
  2. Christ commanded his followers to obey the Pharisees, because they had authority from God to teach. They were not godly men, and Christ rebuked them again and again…yet according to Christ, their personal sins and failures did not take away from the fact that God had given them the authority to teach. (See Matthew 23:1-2). The Catholic Church has been established by Christ, and the bishops have the authority to bind and to loose (Matt 16:16 and 18:18), as successors of the Apostles, regardless of their personal holiness. They should be holy, but they will not always be. The bishops can be compared to the high priest of the Old Covenant. His authority was real, and God used him, whether he was personally holy or not. *But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, nor do ye take account that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. Now this he said not of himself: but, being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation; and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God that are scattered abroad. * (Jn 11:49-52) He condemned Christ! Yet it was by the Spirit that he spoke. God recognized his authority as the authority was from God Himself.

Yep, you got that one right, there’s only one Church, the one Christ started, it’s the Catholic Church. 😃

I was reading all the pages and restraining myself from repeating what so many good Catholics have said to explain. But this is a little cute.

God sent us a love letter! I wonder if He sent it by mail or by sea… Or did He simply throw it down from Heaven?

Look. God gave us the Bible. Yes. But He gave it through MERE MAN. The Church - “Christ’s Church” - put it together. And guess what? They did it without a “list of books to include” given by God!

The Church came first. Then the Bible.
