1- Where does it say in the Bible that Mary was sinless?
2- Where does it say in the Bible that it is ok for sinful man to change the word of God?
3- Where does it talk in the Bible about purgetory?
4- Where does it say in the Bible to pray the rosery as pentence for sin?
5- Where does it talk in the Bible about the assumption of Mary?
6- Where does it talk in the Bible about baptizing baby’s?
7- Where does it talk in the Bible about mortal and veneul sins?
8- How come you hardly ever see a Catholic carry a Bible to a Mass?
I have many more questions that I will ask later. Thanks for your time.

The answers to questions 1 - 7 will be a two-part answer, make sure you read the information in its entirety, if learning is truly your desire.

· [Part 1] All these topics are covered in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. http://www.vatican.va/archive/catechism/ccc_toc.htm

**· **[Part 2] Where did the authority come from for the Catholic Church to say these things?
Code:
      **Matthew 16:18-20**
18”And I tell you that you are Peter, a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades b] will not overcome it. c] 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be d] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be e] loosed in heaven.” 20Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.

8- How come you hardly ever see a Catholic carry a Bible to a Mass?
For me, this comes down to a personal preference; I carry my bible with me wherever I go. Sometimes I leave it in my truck, but it is always pretty handy.

I do not need to carry my bible to church as the shurch itself holds many bibles that are the same as mine.

Best place I know of purgatory is → 1 corinthians: 3:11 - 16

each of those questions are dealt with in other threads. if you are truly here to learn…go look them up. trust me, there are scriptural arguments for everything in the catholic church.

Since others have directed you to a more comprehensive response to your questions, I’ll just pick one of them to answer – #7 about mortal and venial (that is, non-mortal) sin:

I John 5:
16] If any one sees his brother committing what is not amortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is notmortal. There is sin which ismortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that.
17] All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is notmortal.

1- Where does it say in the Bible that Mary was sinless?
When the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary to tell her that she was going to be the Mother of the Savior, he said to her: Hail, Mary, FULL OF GRACE. Can you honestly believe that God would allow his Son, who was purity itself, to be born of a woman who was a sinner?? NO! If she was a sinner she would not be worthy of being his mother! The Mother of Jesus had to be as pure and holy as he was. God created Mary sinless because she was to be the Mother of our Savior.

OUDAVE,
MOst of your questions can be answered at:

scripturecatholic.com/

One question for you, tho. How did the early Christians endure persecution and martyrdom all those centuries without the bible, since the “bible” didn’t exist until after the Councils of Hippo and Carthage in the late 390’s A.D.?

Peace in Christ…Salmon

P.S. Since the three scripture readings at every Sunday mass are pre-printed in the missalette (available to everyone at the mass), it is not necessary to bring an extra copy in a bible. The mass is worship, not a bible study.

Just go to the Catholic Answers library for complete, thorough answers to all of the questions you have asked. That is, if you really want answers.

Questions for you:

What is the Bible?

Whose Bible is the “real” Word of God? How do you know?

gbgm-umc.org/umw/bible/canon2.stm
(This is a Methodist website)

Where in the Bible does it say that all of God’s revelation is contained in the Bible?

The Bible is not a continuous book, but a library – a collection of writings. Who collected them? When? Where is the God-given “inspired” list of the writings that belong in the Bible?

Who named the Bible? The word Bible isn’t in the Bible.

Your Protestant teachers are not telling you the whole truth.

Peace be with you, Jay

where does it say in the Bible that what is written there is the only source of Divine Revelation, and the only guide for interpreting what is written?

The very Bible you rely upon as the “Word of God” was changed by Martin Luther, the “father of Protestantism.” So you need to look to the Protestants for the answer to your question.

The original Bible was formed at the end of the fourth century by the Catholic Church and has never been changed.

Martin Luther removed eleven (11) writings from the canon of the Bible – 7 plus parts of Esther and Daniel from the Old Testament and 4 from the New Testament. His followers restored the NT writings, but not the books from the OT. Therefore, your 66-book cut version of the Bible is incomplete.
3- Where does it talk in the Bible about purgetory?
The most direct biblical proof is in 2 Maccabees, one of the writings that Martin Luther removed from the canon of the Bible. First, Luther cut the OT, then he said the Bible (his cut version of it, that is) was the sole rule of faith for a Christian. Very clever, that Luther, don’t you think? But Maccabees isn’t the only evidence for Purgatory. It’s implied in the NT as well.

Now you and others come along and ask: “Where is Purgatory in the Bible?” The answer: Luther left it on the cutting room floor and you follow Luther, not Christ. 😛 As a Jew, Christ and the Apostles believed in purification of the soul after death. Jews still pray for their dead to this day. It’s only come-lately Protestants that deny it.

I can prove all the statements I make. The facts are in the historical record.

Your Protestant teachers are not telling you the whole truth.

Peace be with you.

If she’s good enough for Jesus, then she’s good enough for me. Wouldn’t it tick you off if someone came to visit and never even said “hi” to your momma?

1- Where does it say in the Bible that Mary was sinless?
OuDave,

I’ll just focus on this one.

These are some Bible references to Mary.

I was sleeping, but my heart kept vigil;
I heard my lover knocking:
"Open to me, my sister, my beloved,
my dove, my perfect one! (Song of Songs 5:2)

You are all-beautiful, my beloved,
and there is no blemish in you. (Song of Songs 4:7)

Protesters often disagree about the Catholic doctrine of Original Sin. They are trying to say that babies and young children are innocent and have no sin. Then they question why Mary was sinless. Isn’t it a contradiction? The Catholic doctrines only proves right.

God Bless,

Pio

Specifically, these come to my mind:
Mat 12:32 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him neither in this world, nor in the world to come.
Jesus here clearly implies that sins can be forgiven in the world to come. However, we know that there is no sin in Heaven, and no one’s sins are forgiven in Hell. Where will these sins be forgiven in the world to come? Purgatory.
1Co 3:13 Every man’s work shall be manifest. For the day of the Lord shall declare it, because it shall be revealed in fire. And the fire shall try every man’s work, of what sort it is.14 If any man’s work abide, which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any mans work burn, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.
Paul clearly states that man can be saved “by fire”. However, there is no fire in Heaven, and again, no one is saved from Hell. Where is this fire? Purgatory.

Or at least Missalettes.

It is important to note, however, that Mass is **not **the same as a Protestant “worship service”. Mass is not the place for some preacher to decide on a topic to preach about, then have everyone open their Bibles to the verses he slings about as he bends the word of God to fit his “doctrine”.

During the Liturgy of the Word, longer Bible passages (from the OT, NT and Gospels) that have a unifying theme are read in their entirety. In the homily, these themes are applied to our daily lives. Note the difference…the preaching is conformed to the Word of God at Catholic Mass, and not vice-versa.

Hi Mt. Quite the assumptions you make about protestant services. So you think topics just pop up out of the blue. Do you know how much preparation and study go into the weekly teachings. You really dont know what you are talking about and are only making some false statements. God Bless

I was raised protestant and the statements WERE NOT FALSE! IThe Serman depends on the Preachers interpretation on the scriptures he picks to preach on. He plays pope but doesn’t recognise it.Come Home, spoken:crying: God Bless
