…on what’s going on with me.

I must tell you, these last couple of weeks have been a very trying time for me. Without
going into many details, the enemy has been hard at work trying to destroy my family.
All because I started going to Church! I’ve lost my cool, lost my temper and have cussed
which was the one thing that I STOPPED doing to put myself on the path to God. I’ve
prayed for forgiveness, though I think it’s harder for me to forgive myself even though my
Heavenly Father has already forgiven me. I had a family member tell me that my family is going through this turmoil because I’m going to the “wrong” church! I was floored. I really didn’t know what to think. I told her that God spoke to my heart and sent me to this church. She didn’t believe me.
On top of that, I’m still in college full time and this term is moving faster now than before. Not really, but it surely seems so. I have an entrance test to take on Friday for the nursing program that I’m applying to for fall. I’m not as nervous as I thought I’d be, but it’s really important that I score high. I’ve been praying that God will Bless me and be with me.

The Masses have been wonderful and I get such a Blessing from going and just being in the presence of Christ. I feel so at ‘home’ when I attend Mass and I don’t feel out of place at all. My brother is loaning me his books and so I will be reading them as I still have much to learn.

I’m in the process of writing a couple of research papers for school, plus all my other homework, my family, etc. Seems there aren’t enough hours in the day anymore! I thank God for leading me to this forum as I learn so much and there is so much love here. I also would like to thank you ALL for your prayers for me and my family. Please continue to pray.

God Bless!
Kathy

Hi Kathy - good to hear from you. Hang in there. It will all work out. I will keep you in my prayers. I know you will do fine on your test on Friday.

:angel1:

If you don’t already, be sure to ask for your guardian angel’s intercession. 🙂

Hang in there, you’re doing the right thing. Also, remember that cussing (while not great) is at most a venial sin as long as you don’t take the name of the Lord in vain. So, don’t beat yourself up over that too much. I know plenty of holy priests who use “blue” language on occasion 🙂

God Bless!

I felt the same way when I re entered the church. It caused strife with my husband, children, my daughter passed away, on and on. I think God allows the difficulties because He is preparing us for spiritual combat. If we can’t stand up for Him with people then we will have much more difficulty will we have when Satan sends his angels to tear us away from Him. Keep strong and just know that He has your back! And trust me, when you trust Him, it gets better than you could ever have imagined.

** MY DAILY BREAD**
Code:
                                **The Way of Imitation**

                   **VIRTUES LEADING DIRECTLY TO GOD**

                                      **CHAPTER 33**

                           ***Perseverance in God's Service***
CHRIST:
MY CHILD, only he who perseveres to the end will be saved. Good resolutions will not help you unless they are followed right to the end of life.
  1. With the help of My grace, be determined to follow My Will in your daily life. Follow it regardless of feelings Moods and feelings will change with the changing hour of the day, but your will must stand firm in loyalty to Me.
  2. Sometimes you will enjoy what I send you, and sometimes you will dislike it. At times you will be eager to obey Me, and at other times you will be sluggish. Yet your will can rise, with the help of My grace, above these changing feelings. Your true worth is proved by a determined effort to follow your good resolutions.
  3. The Fathers of the desert learned this heavenly wisdom long ago. Never were they fooled by the devil’s temptations nor by the self deception of their human nature. By prayer, fasting, penance, and work, they overcame the enemies within them and outside them. With eyes fixed on Me, they saw Heaven as their goal, and they made their daily life a journey toward eternal happiness.
  4. You too will be tempted to abandon your good resolutions. You will fear for your health, worry about your friends, be disturbed by human opinions, and become troubled about imagined dangers.
  5. Follow My advice. Keep yourself busy with prayer, self-denial, and good works. I will soon send you greater graces and you will find yourself closer to Me than before. For the present walk in faith, hope, and obedient charity. Later you will realize that the trials which troubled you were actually good for you. They helped you to see which virtues you really possess and which are still needed in your daily life.
THINK:
It is after I have made my resolutions that the battle begins. Not only will the devil tempt me more, but I shall also have to take misunderstandings, and even bad will, from neighbors who resent my change for the better. My worst enemy, however, will be my own human nature. It will dislike the harder course of action which I am now following. My imagination, my old habits, my likes and dislikes, these will cooperate in order to make me abandon my resolutions. On such occasions I ought to get busy with some activity which will help me overcome, or at least disregard my lower nature’s rebellion. God will send me light and strength in due time if only I will hold on to my resolutions in the present darkness of fears, doubts, and dislikes.

PRAY:
My Jesus, there are no words to describe the grandeur and glory which await those who follow Your holy Will in their daily life. That is why You never tried to tell us what it is like. When we enter into your glorious Heaven, we too will say with St. Paul that no eye on earth has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, nor has anyone in this world even imagined what You have prepared for Your loyal followers. Yes, no matter what suffering we may endure in this life, these sufferings will never be great enough to earn the smallest joy of Heaven. Grant me the wisdom to keep my eyes on that goal, so that I may never become discouraged or cowardly in life’s daily battle. Amen.

OK Peachy,
Keep your chin up and head held high. Take a deep breath, pray and give it to God. He can help shoulder this for you. Keep your eye on the prize!!! Don’t concern yourself with other people’s opinions of what is right for you. This stands for your family too!!! They can do what is right for them, and you need to do what is right for you. You listened to God’s call to YOU and actually felt Him tapping you on the shoulder. THIS IS HUGE!!! AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL!!! He will never forsake you. He has a plan for you, you just don’t know what it is yet. Just keep letting Christ’s light shine through you being the best you can be.

Good luck on your test Friday morning for nursing school. I will say another prayer for you.

Have a great test and weekend!!!

PS, I would not have known you started a new thread if I had not clicked on your name to see if you had been active. I kept waiting to see your other threads show activity. You don’t have to start a new thread every time. Just FYI.

Thank you everyone.
I will remember to ask for my guardian angel’s intercession.

2 weekends in a row we have had to go out of town and I’ve not been able to attend
Mass. I’m in classes through the week, too. I’ve been praying still and will be going
Sunday. I feel like I’ve missed so much by not attending the last 2 weeks.

TY Bilop for letting me know about the “blue” language. Although it may be venial, it
certainly doesn’t feel right anymore. The enemy continues to fight, mainly within my household. I have so much going on with them right now and feel if I could just get them
to church, things may be better. The kids are indifferent by listening to their father. They’ll
be all for going then hear him and then don’t want to go. :nope: I pray that God will touch
his heart.

TY Monica for sharing with me. I just have to remain strong.🙂 I’m determined.

JPY…I appreciate your post. I printed it and will tape it to my mirror. Really touched me.

TY Always…thank you!!! I really needed that. I DON’T know what his plan is for me. And that’s hard b/c I’m the type of person that likes to have Plan A and Plan B in case Plan A doesn’t pan out. But you know…THAT’S IT!!! I just figured it out Praise God!!! It’s ALL about trust. I have such a hard time trusting. I really do. Probably THE biggest issue I have. And I feel that maybe, just maybe, I haven’t given complete 100% trust. I’m telling you God works in mysterious ways. I know I haven’t been on much b/c of school, and that’s what I should be doing now is my h/w, etc. but He sent me here so I could see this post. Wow.
My test…I scored well. They advised me to take it again, though. I like having a slight ‘edge’ ahead of others and most everyone scored at or above my score. I will be retaking it on June 5. I’m focusing on the areas that were the weakest for me in the test. God sent me a great study buddy too. I’m usually the loner at school.

Will be popping in later. Thanks for the FYI on the threads 🙂

God Bless!

So…we were out and about yesterday and went to Books A Million [one of my favorite places, btw] and while we were in there I was over at the religion section looking at the books on Catholicism. Thumbing around, browsing, just looking really. I went on down to the Bibles [same row, opposite end] and was looking at the ones more for Catholics. By that I mean, I already own a KJV…I was looking for one that had the books that the KJV does not have. I found this one for Catholics that’s a study Bible that’s also for women. I was looking through it not really paying any attention, when my husband said “If you want that go ahead and get it”. I didn’t even know that he was behind me! Of course I got it!
Well today, I picked it up to read and the page I opened was on acceptance [kinda like a mini-article geared towards women]. This is what it said:

There is a fascinating lesson of purpose and inspiration in salmon fighting tirelessly and seemingly against all odds to swim upstream to spawn and die. This beautiful drama of nature reminds us that there are battles in life, no matter what the consequences, that must be overcome.
But if more of your days are ending in physical, mental or simply spiritual exhaustion, maybe there’s a more important lesson in this story. Perhaps God’s plan for you is to actually swim with the current instead of against it.
Even though we may want to fight changing them, accepting the things about ourselves or others or about our situation in life wthat we really can’t change [no matter how hard we struggle] is the first step we must take. Instead of watching us struggle with situations in an attempt to make them come out the way we want, God is anxious to carry the weight and win our battles for us. When you accept that God is the one in control, you’ll feel buoyed by His love and propelled by faith on your journey.
Fully accepting God’s will in your life goes far beyond simply saying that you believe in Him. Once you fully turn your life over to Him, you’ll be amazed at how easily he will return to you the emotional and spiritual energy you may have been expending
swimming upstream.

This really helped me today and I emailed it to my husband. I hope that it will help someone else as well.

God Bless!
Kathy

I love that your husband told you to get that book. Sometimes mine surprises me like that. Once he tried to explain to our daughter why the theory of a creator makes more sense than the big bang theory (this is huge for an agnostic who tends to be extremely logical in his thinking). I just shut my mouth (very hard for me to do :o) and let him talk. He did a great job with it, but when he started getting too close to saying that God exists, he just smiled, looked at me and told our daughter to “just listen to mom”. I still have moments that I think he will never turn that corner, but I also see glimmers.

I agree with what you said. I stopped pushing, pleading and preaching and he seems much more receptive. He may even let me invite my priest over for dinner. Mind you the priest knows his situation and will be looking for opportunity as well. 🙂

If the enemy is tempting you and deems you worthy of battle, be certain to fight with prayer. 🙂

Memorizing the basic prayers of the Church, and taking up the St. Michael prayer and rosary would be a very good start. 🙂

Thank you Monica and Shin.

Question: Is it true that I must get a rosary and have it blessed by the Priest first??
Thanks.

God Bless!

You can use your fingers, and you don’t have to get it blessed. Nevertheless, I encourage you to do both, because blessed objects are of great use too in the spiritual battle and great signs to raise our devotion to God.

God remembers every prayer and blessing.

When you live in an environment with many things to help lift your mind to God, it is a very good life you live in the soul. 😉

Thanks, Shin.

I just ordered my rosary today so it should be here in a day or so. I’m taking it to Mass on Sunday and have the Priest bless it for me. I’m excited 🙂

I met with the religious educator at my parish during lunch. She gave me a couple of books to read that she thought may be helpful. We ended up talking over an hour. I learned a lot, though. I can’t wait til October!

I love the last line of your post. I wrote it down 🙂

God Bless!

That is great to hear. 🙂

Let me also recommend some books to you here.

The little books that you can read online here are great to carry around for meditation: escrivaworks.org/

And the books that are recommended from Saints’ Quotes are wonderful volumes for both the beginning and long time Catholic.

I pray for you on your journey! 😃

I struggle with the same thing. I don’t know HOW to always just let God have it. I try, but today, I just can’t seem to let go. Maybe I am not doing it right. I have a hard time trusting too. It is probably my biggest obstacle in my way to having a complete relationship with God. I have good days and bad days. When they are bad, I really just don’t know how to let it go. I needed your post today. Thank you very much.

I am glad that your husband was able to be supportive of you at the book store. That is a great start. Hopefully, he will sit down and read that Bible with you sometime.

I really liked the last line of Shin’s post as well. The rosary doesn’t have to be blessed. I had my cross necklace and my miraculous medal blessed. But as in all sacramentals, they bring you closer to God, make you feel closer to God, and puts God front and center. They are a wonderful aids.

I am glad to hear things are going well. You sound good. jpy15026 typed you a prayer and reflection from a little devotional book called My Daily Bread. It is a GREAT little book for daily inspiration. They are small and very easy to read, and only take a few minutes. There is another little book called God Calling that is similar to My Daily Bread. I enjoy both of them. They always give me something to think about and reflect on. I think you would enjoy them.

You are smart to surround yourself with as many Catholics as you can. I am glad you got to speak to the instructor at your parish for so long. It is those times that I remember the most. What was most interesting? newadvent.com and this site (there is a information part that is not the forum) that can answer most any question you might have. Researching the early Church and what the Early Church Fathers taught and believed was a big eye opener for me. I couldn’t write a thesis on it, but I learned and am still learning so much that just knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that the One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church is THE Church that Christ founded on Peter and the Apostles makes everything else much easier to have faith in. When the ECF’s taught and wrote of the things they learned from the Apostles themselves and the successors of the Apostles, in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd centuries AD, I KNOW it is Truth over what modern man teaches in error today outside of the Catholic Church. That gives me security.

Thank you again for sharing your life with us and keeping us updated on your journey.

I look forward to hearing more from you as you can update us. Have a great weekend.

Always,
I’m glad you replied. You know I’ve been looking for you to poke your head in. You’ve been such a great help to me since my Day 1.

I knew God wanted me to post that on here!!! I’m glad I listened. You know my husband also emailed me back and told me that he really needed that and it would help him get through his day much better. I’m glad I was able to be a tool for Christ.

What was most interesting? Wow. We talked about so much! One thing that really stuck out for me was we were talking about the Real Presence in the Eucharist. I was raised that the bread and wine were symbolic, not the Real Presence, and actually never heard of it until God called me home to the Church. Even then it wasn’t that I doubted, per se, but I was skeptic. Well, my 1st mass I went to, I cried when it was to the part of Communion. Even though I couldn’t partake, I FELT Him there. It was very moving. I knew then that I was Home. Anyway, so we were talking about that and she told me this; she said you know there is the Divine Presence in the Eucharist and it is REAL because the Satanists break into the parishes and have to desecrate the Eucharist in order to use it in their own ceremonies. Before you can desecrate something you have to first believe in it. I never knew that but it was definitely a confirmation for me. One of the books she gave me Why Do Catholics Do That? has been a very good read so far. It’s really enhancing the things I’ve recently learned and also things I haven’t ran across yet. For instance, that the Old Testament that the Protestants use in the KJV of the Bible is different from the original Septaugint that’s used in the Catholic Bible.

I really wish that my parish offered classes prior to RCIA; and that doesn’t start til October. Another parish here does but I don’t think I should go outside of my parish just yet.

So glad you popped in. Keeping you in my prayers:gopray::hug1:

take comfort in the Holy Spirits guidance. he never leads you down a path of destruction. confusion, sufferings of heartache (i use this to offer up my pain to the conversion of sinners and the poor souls of purgatory), but never destruction.

ask God for grace.

God be with you on your journey.

It is sad to realize that churches that have separated themselves from the One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church teach so much error. Their congregations don’t know it is error. I guess it might not be error for them though. Those churches don’t have the Real Presence. It actually would only be symbolic for them. But, they don’t teach anything about Real Presence, which is what was believed even through the Reformation. Why has that teaching been changed so much by man in the last 300 years? Jesus taught us that it was His REAL body and blood. The Apostles taught it all the ECF’s taught the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, so that is all we have to go on. Men, today, on their own authority teach error that leads people away from Christ.

Most non-Catholic Churches don’t teach that the original Bible came from the Alexandrian Canon of the Septuagint. Most that I have run across teach that the Catholics added 7 books at Trent or at some point. The Catholic Church has always used the Alexandrian Septuagint as that is what Jesus and the Apostles used. Those 7 books have always been part of the canon and used in teaching. There was some dissention over some of the books, but they were always used and the issue was finally settled for good (at Trent I think.) Non-Catholic Churches have to teach that the Catholic Church was “wrong” in adding them because otherwise it would be questioned why anyone would be using a different Bible than what was handed down by the Church. I have never been to a protestant church that has been forthcoming with the knowledge of where the Bible actually came from, who determined the canon, or the actual truth about why there are different numbers of books in the protestant Bible which came from the Catholic Bible that has more.

I have been keeping up with you. I just haven’t had the time this last week to post much. I am glad that you have continued to update us. I will poke my head in more!!!:)🙂
