Ah… I went walking a few years back, it was a black stormy night in winter with a gale force wind blowing heavy freezing cold rain. I was walking about 10 or 11 miles into the countryside when about 10 or 15 feet in front I distinctly saw a very large black dog running (galloping, can dogs do that) straight at me. It was an exceptionally cross looking dog with big teeth - then it disappeared. It did not run off the road cause my eyes were fairly well glued to it as I wondered what was the best thing to do, I checked the hedges anyway. No dog.I’ve been to Civil war battlefields and never saw or felt anything spooky. I was interested in leaning more about this “loop in the the space-time contiuum”. What about black dogs? For an outdoor trail gun, I would recommend a revolver in .45 Colt. You can pick up a new Taurus Tracker for about $400.No tracks. Hard surface. Anyway the thing was looking at me and … well running at me. How much are those g_ns again?
I’m sure the animals rights people appreciate this…I guess you don’t recall if there were any tracks? That would have been the first thing that I would have looked for if something “disappeared” on me.
I, too, frequently go walking along the country side (but not in the rain) with a blessed rosary in one hand and a .45 Colt in an undercover shoulder holster – figuring that a blessed sacramental will offer me all of the spiritual protection I need and a .45 Colt all of the physical protection I need unless I encounter a brown bear which have never been sighted in these parts.

I certainly hope they do. If an animal continues to advance toward a 265-pound man swinging a big stick, then it is a threat to small children, young mothers, elderly, etc.I’m sure the animals rights people appreciate this…
90% of all “ghosts” are eithers hoaxes or explained by normal / everyday things. What is left over – 90% of THAT is attributed to demonic activity and what is left over after all of that are actual ghosts.I don’t buy this ghost bit. I do not think they are holy souls in purgatory; but rather smoke-and-mirrors used by the adversary. There have been exceptions though, it seems, as some of these souls were permitted by God to appear before many saints (St. Francis and St. Padre Pio come to mind quickest) in order to ask for their prayers.
