Because people do not normally look at Adam from God’s view, there is the tendency to downplay Adam’s nature, especially his intellective rational soul. When I first read this sentence, I was interested in defending Adam’s anatomy. It took me a bit to get back on the Catholic track which says that the soul is considered to be the “form” of the body: (CCC 364-365) Bingo! Adam is a spiritual creature and remains so.I believe I know where the disconnect is. My guess is that it is possibly close to my stumbling block in this CCC 396 sentence. "A spiritual creature, man can live this friendship only in free submission to God. "
