Just deleted copied music, need for confession?

I went to confession yesterday, gave an honest confession, then today I was thinking I have a lot of illegally copied music on my computer. I had been discerning for a few hours whether or not it would be a serious sin to keep them (they were all my brother’s music, and I figured what’s the difference between having the music on my computer and just borrowing old CD’s once in a while.) Anyway, I decided why not just remove everything that’s not mine. Is there any need for me to go back to confession?
 
If they’re all songs your brother has, why not ask him to let you borrow his CDs for a day while you copy them onto your computer?

Anyway, I would not say that’s really an offense (unless your brother would not let you have his songs, of course…) since you already have them. It’s up to you to decide, since you have more knowledge of what happened than we do. Perhaps you should ask your priest and/or look around to see what the Church has to say.

However, you should never do that again. There could be serious legal consequences of illegally downloading anything unless you live in, say, Sweden. Chances are very slim that anything will happen to you now, but you’re still taking a chance.

Disclaimer: I’m not a Catholic and thus might not be able to give you good, Catholic advice. But I think it’s pretty sound anyway. 😉
