Hi,
I just responded to a blog thread about people bashing christians for sharing their opinions for sleeping around.
I simply explained christians do not ‘pour religion down their throats’, but they invite people to show them the love of God and Jesus, basically this is what i wrote:
Ive been reading a few things here about ‘christians shoving religion down people’s throats’ and so on.
As a christian, its not a fact we are ‘shoving’ it down peoples throats, its ‘inviting’ people to come see the truth for themselves and what religion is truly about.
You dont have to get uptight an accuse of us ‘shoving’, we are just inviting you to share with us the wonderful love that is God and Jesus.
I know im going to get tanked for saying that, but hey, its the truth. I think instead of attacking what you do not know, you should give it the time and day and research it for yourselves.
Peace and love.

Did I go to far? Is this a ‘brainwashing’ tactic, of which i was sort of accused of?
Im only trying to help spread the word of God but dont want to step on peoples toes…
Please help…

Its tough finding the right balance of tact and teaching. Some folks simply are not open to listening at certain points in their life. These people may react strongly against even a hint of religious teaching. Its frustrating, but what can we do except try and then apologize if they erupt?

I don’t think you are going to get tanked here for talking about Jesus and God’s Love. The only thing I would react badly to is if your screen nickname referred to humans marrying dolphins.

hmmmm i love dolphins, ive even got a tattoo of a dolphin on me (only one i got) cause i love them, intelligent creatures.
But as for marrying one… not really my type 😛

Hi,

I swam with dolphins:D Anyway, I think what you are doing is fine. Some peoplee are just not ready to hear the message so in their minds you are shoving it down their throats.

When I was a teenager, 13, both my siblings became saved. Let me tell you they NAGGED ME and tried to shove GOD down my throat:eek: I was a teenager I could have cared less about God. So that is how I viewed it.

Now that I am a believer, it took a good 16 years after that to finally want to listen to God, I am very careful not to be forceful with unbelievers because of my experience.

It is all in how you present it.😃 If you come across forceful you can forget it. If you can say here is the truth you decide for yourself then maybe eventually. Look at how long it took me to come around.

We have to remember it is not us who saves people it is God. That takes the pressure off.👍 All we can do is present the truth and pray for them and let God do the rest.

Sorry I didnt mean to get so long-winded.:o

P.S. Make sure you dont come across as self-righteous–that is a big turn off as well.👍

Remember what Jesus told the seventy He sent out. Go into a house(blog) and stay with them and eat with them(get to know one another at least a little). Proclaim the word of God to them and if they refuse to hear, then brush the dirt off your sandals and move on. (Of course I have paraphrased) You spoke, they refused to even hear you. Now move on and speak again, and don’t forget to live the Beatitudes while you are at it. A curse from thier lips because you speak of god, is transfigured into a blessing before it gets to your ears…😉

Spreading the truth and the Word of God is NOT stepping on peoples toes, nor is it forcing anything down their throats. It is our duty as Christians to witness to the truth. Conversly, we must do it with love in our hearts. If we do, it will show in our words and writings. At the end of the day, we have no choice in how the person who is being evangalized to is going to react. Being a Christian means having to have a very thick skin, and yet an open and loving heart, and it’s a hard balancing act. Nowhere is it portrayed as easy. Witness on, brothers and sisters, and let the chips fall where they may. You’re working towards an eternal and heavenly life for yourself, AND those you’re speaking to. Just examine your motives to ensure that they are loving and in keeping with the teaching of the High Priest. Our blessed Lamb of God.

I simply ask them if they mind themselves shoving their opinions down my throat?

People who would say that your sharing your views is an OFFENSE and VIOLENCE to their “rights” doesn’t understand the basic purpose of people talking to each other.

If they are that ignorant, then they can be safely ignored. (“Shaking the dust off the sandals” technique.)

They simply won’t hear anything you say.

But do your “ignoring” with due charity, of course. 🙂

LOL----- I did at the same place that I swam with the dolphins:eek:
Wow, and you lived to tell about it? “Swimming with the fishes” is a euphemism for someone who is stone cold dead, especially if that someone has been murdered (as in old movies about the Mothers And Fathers Italian Association). ‘Sleeping with the fishes’ is an alternative form.

I know I was just being funny. I have lived in NJ all my life so I familiar with the mob terms:D
