On occasion, without much explanation, I will wake up from a dream that can be described as nothing short of “the end times.” If an explanation were given, it would be that maybe I am reading too much of the prophets.

Inevitably I will think to myself, how close are we to the end times?

So I ask Catholic and non-Catholics (feel free to answer any or all):
  1. Are we in the end times?
  2. If you think so, are there any scriptures you feel have pointed to your conclusion?
  3. Have you ever had an “end times” dream?
  4. Does God still speak in dreams?

“Just for FUN”???

I think we’re always in the "end times’. The early church thought Jesus’ return was imminent. It was then and still is; time is a pretty meaningless concept compared with Eternity, which is timeless. I think we’re meant to always be conscious of the end being “just around the corner” because in the Grand Scheme of things, it is. Besides, it’s always the ‘end times’ for someone. There are way too many end-of-the-world watchers, especially the televangelists who are getting rich off it.

Oh, I forgot to say, yes, I’ve had one “end-times” dream. In 1988 or 89, I dreamed I was on my way to Mass with 2 faithful Catholic friends and my parents, who were nonobservant. In the dream it was going to be one of the last times baptisms were performed in the Catholic Church. I don’t know why. In the dream, I knew that if the Church stopped performing baptisms, then the Church itself was about to cease, and that had to mean the end of the world was around the corner.

I don’t know-ficklefreckle’s answer is darn good. Many believe the Parousia has been delayed so that more people will be saved.Jewish folks believe the more mitzvot the do the faster the Messiah will come-kinda the same idea.God wants us to get our act together before the curtain falls.

I would say we are…Discern the times…What things are going on as birth pangs…Is Isreal become a burdensome stone? Even the secular world is questioning the things going on…I’d say “watch and pray”…Keep your lamps full…

I’ve also had a cool dream…In the distance as I was sleeping and alarm went off like a trumpeting noise…In the dream it sounded like the last trump…I could feel like I was lifting out of bed and threw my arms out which woke me up…I thought “awe”, just a dream…

Well, I have my dear Protestant friends who are obsessed with this subject; they even have a date.
I make them laugh when I tell them that who cares about the end of times, I care very much about my own end, it could be tonight. They say “I never thought about it” or “I don’t think about it too much.”
Jesus tells us that it is not up to us to know the day and time for not even the Son knows it, only the Father. He will come like a thief in the middle of the night. This scares me enough that every second of my life I depend on the Mercy of God to stay in state of grace so as to be ready when my Maker calls me to His just judgment. Besides, I should live a life as if this moment is the last so that it would be much easier to prepare for the final moment. This is my thinking, what do you think?🙂

Just think He has a crown for those loving His appearing…Their looking forward to His return…We are to be looking up for our redemption draws neigh…That’s why were are to watch and pray…And have our lamps full…I stay ready for any time be it just mine or all believers…

I’m currently reading a book on this very subject. It’s sources are the Bible and the Early Church Fathers, no private revelations.

Although the current turmoil seems apocalyptic, I don’t think we are there yet. One very important thing has not happened and that is the coming of someone who will claim to the Jewish Messiah. If someone arises claiming to be him AND is believed and followed by millions, then I will start to think we are in the End Times.

Back in the late 70’s I read a book on the 13th century by an historian. My dh tossed it in a house clean sometime ago so I can no longer reference it. 😦 The 13th century was full of wars and several waves of the Plague. Massive social disruption and widespread death were the order of the day as the Plague was no respecter of persons and took the high and mighty along with the lowly. They truly thought they were in the End Times. Since reading that book, I have not been nearly so ready to believe we are in the End Times now.

In the meantime, it is best not to worry about it and just concern ourselves with our own individual End Time and our own particular judgment. To me, the only valid response to this fear is to turn to Christ and not worry. No matter if we are martyred for Him, or if we die in our sleep, we should always be prepared to meet our Maker.

“Just for FUN”???
The “Just for Fun” portion of the title comes from the general premise that for the most part this will be speculative. There are plenty of faiths which have come and gone saying, “The world is ending!” on so-and-so date. Then the date came, passed, and we have continued to exist. Also, there are faiths that do not have “end times” so I am trying to be inclusive and have a rather pleasant discussion about a somewhat uneasy topic. Easy enough.

I don’t dwell on the subject. It is when I have dreams that I am suddenly brought back to thinking about it. I’ve had some doozies.

  3. Have you ever had an “end times” dream?
  4. Does God still speak in dreams?
1)**Doesn’t matter to me, I believe in always smiling, cuz I never know when the photographer is coming.

2)Nope
  1. Several times, haha I went really crazy after them… rosary every day (which I do know anyway) confession every week (which I should probably do)**
  2. Trying to understand God is like trying to explore the vastness of space, with binoculars. He works in mysterious ways. 🤷

The only thing certain is that we are one day closer than we were yesterday. 😃

I heard recently on CA radio that one of the imminent signs of the return is a mass conversion to the Church of the Jews.

some of the other signs: falling away of the faithful (I think this has happened, wars and natural disasters–hard to say, but possibly; persecution and martyrdom of the faithful–has happened, but could get worse; worldwide charismatic political figure who persecutes the church and appears to do miracles (the antiChrist)–I don’t think this has happened, but I wonder about Obama sometimes–attractive, charismatic, anti-life, anti-family, anti-Church world leader.

anyway, getting closer…

Come, Lord Jesus. AMEN

Hmm… mass conversion to Judaism? I can’t say I’ve ever really heard that one. I don’t really see many Jews proselytizing.

  1. I have no idea.
  2. Jesus said we will not know.
  3. Nope.
  4. It is possible.

I don’t see the Jews becoming Roman Catholic, but He has plans to get them to acknowledge Him as their Messiah by the time it’s over…Right now they are a burdensome stone to the nations…Yes Amen Come Lord Jesus…I’m ready to shed this mortal body…

Ooo… I thought he meant gentiles converting to Judaism, not Judaism converting to Catholicism.

Some of us are…some of us aren’t. For those of us in America who live in decent homes and drive nice cars and have plenty to eat and sit in front of our computer to post on CAF…no…the end times are a long way off…for those who struggle for their lives and live in fear of pain, disease and violence…I’m sure they can point to a biblical passage to “proove” they are in the “end times”.

This old world has been ticking along quite well for over a billion years…it will continue for much longer down the road…some of us however will see the “signs of the times” all around us…seems people have been seeing the “signs of the times” since the “signs” were penned a couple millenia ago…right from the start people started worrying about the “end times”…and we’re still here.

You caught me off guard with the “over a billion years” comment. I’ve only known one Friend and I don’t think we ever had that discussion. (And we don’t have to discuss it here.)
