I just had a meeting with my ex-boss, less than half an hour ago. I got laid off.

My mouth is dry, and my head is reeling. Even though I had a little bit of a feeling something was going to happen, and I prayed this morning, “Lord I put my life in your hands” I’m struggling.

I had booked a flight to Vegas for my sister’s 50th. It is going to be very special, because my other sister is coming and it will be a time for real reconciliation. It’s paid for, so all I have to do is be very frugal while there. I’m not a gambler, so that’s a mercy.

Anyway, at this time in my life, (only a year away from retirement or so) I just wanted to share and reach out to a community of believers for a little prayer support.

Fortunately, our house is paid off, and we don’t have any outstanding debt. We just have to pull back our spending and be careful.

I will mostly miss the people I worked with and the community that I served, but life goes on, and I know that God has a plan, even if I don’t see it right now.

Just very sad.

Praying to St. Joseph for you to find another job.

I’ve been there. God is going to bring very good things out of this. He never leaves or forsakes us. Prayers for you! 😃 :byzsoc: 👍

I am so sorry. My husband was laid off recently (October 1). I had dropped to part-time with the birth of our 5th child in March. We had/have a lot of bills, a large mortgage payment, and three small children still at home…you get the picture.

I made the decision to live with faith. We were careful with our money, but we still lived life with charity. We continued to donate and help those in hard times trusting we would be okay.

It was a scary three months, but my husband finally found another job. He enjoys the job so much more than what he was doing and he bonded with our now 10 month old so much during those months at home.

All of this to say, that most assuredly you are in my prayers. I empathize with you and I know that God has bigger plans for you!

Praying that God puts another opportunity in your path.

Hail Mary,
Full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou amoungst women,
And blessed is the fruit of Thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of death,
Amen

Thank you for your prayers! Please continue to pray.

It’s one of those moments when you realize that it’s time … I’m 59, so running and getting that great job isn’t going to happen. I had many salad days in the past, been a manager myself, won awards for what I do… It’s truly ****** that this has happened because I was planning on staying til I retire, but c’est la vive. This is truly an opportunity to trust God and what He has planned.

Peace and PLEASE continue to pray. I FEEL your prayers surround me with an indescribable peace and calm.

And now that I have more time… I’ll spend a bit more time on this site praying for you! :)👍

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.
Amen.

Eternal God , in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhastible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,
that in difficult moments we might not despair
nor become despondent , but with great confidence ,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will ,
which is love and mercy itself . Amen

Prayer to St. Joseph for the Unemployed

O Saint Joseph, we pray to you for those who are out of work, for those who want to earn their living or support their families.

You who are the patron of workers; grant that unemployment may vanish from our ranks; that all those who are ready to work may put their strength and abilities in serving their fellowmen and earn a just salary.

You are the patron of families; do not let those who have children to support and raise lack the necessary means. Have pity on our brothers and sisters held down in unemployment and poverty because of sickness or social disorders. Help our political leaders and captains of industry find new and just solutions. May each and every one have the joy of contributing, according to his abilities, to the common prosperity by an honorable livelihood. Grant that we may all share together in the abundant goods God has given us and that we may help underprivileged countries. Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now ever shall be world without end
Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Hey OP…just wanted to say a few words of support. I’m 59 also, and chose to leave my job in November…had been thinking about it for a long time, and the stress finally got to me and I decided to do it then. It was scary…but DH is still working, our house is paid off, no debt…sounds kinda like your situation.

If you were going to retire anyway in a year or so, you should be ok. I’m guessing what makes it harder is that this was forced on you…you weren’t able to make the decision. Just give yourself a little time to get used to it all, and I’ll keep you in my prayers for a smooth transition. Lots of good comes from “retirement”…my prayer time has soooo greatly improved, now that I have time during the day when I’m not tired to really focus!!!

God bless you.

You must have been a very good employee to survive so long in this depressed economy. It strikes me as suspicious you were laid of a year from retirement. Sad to say there are as lot of companies that are just that cheap. But look ahead. You sound like a guy who will land on his feet. God bless.👍
