Just learned that a former co-coworker passed away end of December 2016.

Age 69.

First name is John.

Married with children and grand-children.

No details available. Was a hard working very decent fellow.

Served in Vietnam. Army. Armor. Was in contact daily.

He showed me his battle scar … from being hit by an AK-47 bullet … I asked him if he got a Purple Heart and he said “naw” … it was just a scratch. [Our former Secretary of State collected three scratches and got an early “out”.]

In one case, being in daily contact, John “caught” a large North Vietnamese Army group and in the fierce battle, wiped them out AND captured 400 weapons, AND suffered no, ZERO, U.S. casualties. And for his efforts, received a letter of reprimand … for “using too much ammunition”. [With friends like that, who needs enemies?]

John was a very conscientious hard working guy.

As a mutual friend once said, if you care, you will get a heart attack.

I thought about that all night.
