Today Marks My first year anniversary and my wife and I have been talking about sex.
I just wanted to know if the Church allows foreplay.
the main reason I am asking this is because I know that masturabation is a mortal sin.

also a buddy of mine started dating a Atheist and converted her, now he wants to Marry her but when he asked her dad, he almost threw him out of the house.

thanks!

sorry, I didn’t finish that last part
So my buddy and I were wondering should he Marry this woman? he kinda feels like he should not because the dad said no, but I told him that the dad was saying no for a bad reason/selfish.

Foreplay is a natural part of the sex act and is especially beneficial for the woman who is often less ready than her husband. Just be wary of the limits to chaste foreplay. Secular society advocates for very few limits but as a Catholic, your goal is to bring honour to God by your communion with your spouse.

As for your friend… is the girl dependent on her father at this stage? If so I would try and respect his feelings and give it some more time before going down the engagement road. If she is independent and he only asked the fathers permission as a courtesy thing, they might have to make a tough decision on their own which would involve absence of her families involvement. Time may heal after that.

Within the context of the marital act it’s totally fine within Church teaching.

He should only marry her if she is willing and able to tell her father to buzz off. There’s not much worse than being married to someone who puts his or her family of origin over their marriage and spouse. He can’t be held hostage by his in-laws.

If she is an adult, her parents are not allowed to interfere with these types of decisions.

Why ask for permission if you’re just going to do it anyway if her father says no?

Having never been married, but having at one point been sexually active (we all have a past), I think I should comment that ANY sexual act outside of marriage is all ways mortally sinful. HOWEVER, I remember reading a confession guide that would describe acts that would be sinful and it would say things like “marital acts excepted as a form of foreplay”. So as far as I know, it would not be sinful.
