Just signed up. I love message boards. Gives me something to do at work and yes I’m allowed to do that at work. 😃

Born and raised in the Catholic Church 'til I was 28 y/o. Loved my experience there. GREAT FOUNDATION for my faith. At 28 y/o my sister in law invited us to their non denom church to watch my neice get baptized. Without a doubt both wife and I knew God had called us to this church.

I extremely dislike the wall build between Catholics and Protestants. I like the term non denomination cause I don’t consider myself a protester of anything. I’m just walking with Christ trying to do His will. I wasn’t involved with that mess. So, how can I choose sides?

Looking forward to meeting and sharing here. Excited to begin this new journey.

This is a great site to frequent. Lots of wisdom and great debate here. I don’t post too much; I mostly read. I find I am on this site mostly every day.

I like the term non denomination cause I don’t consider myself a protester of anything.

There is no such thing as “non-denominational” for two reasons:
  1. You might be a denomination of just one person, but nobody can avoid it.
  2. Most likely what you believe will be found to fit in one or the other of the denominational traditions.

just be warned however that we will be all over you like ducks on a junebug to get you back home the Catholic Church which is where God has called you, where you were baptized, and where you belong. Watch out because before long we will be praying the rosary for you, and you know how dangerous that can be, the fast track, the express train to unity. If you dislike the sad divisions in the Church, warned against by Christ Himself on the night before He died, you are probably already turned back toward the Chuch He founded, and will find unity only when (not if) you do return. we’ll keep the Light on for you.

just as a side note, on the topic of so many denoms vs non-denom, see an interesting book in the Christian bookstore (evangelical) catalog called Who Stole my Church? blurb: “feel like your church has been hijacked: You’re not alone. Millions of seasoned churchgoers feel at odds with praise bands, PowerPoint presenations, and mall-like mega-sanctuaries–and many are dropping out.” Sounds like disenchantment with modern worship styles is not limited to Catholics, interesting.

Ah, the old bible construction angle. Sure, I’ve heard that one. Just another of the same old re-treaded arguments and back and forth debates that get no where.

Take your best shots. But, I’m way beyond that now. I have so much direction and destiny and clarity now in my walk with Christ. All that is amuzing to me now. But, if you feel the need, knock yourself out.

This is something I’ve figured out long ago. There are just as many people going through the motions at my new church as there were in my former Catholic Churches. (I was in the US Navy, so I’ve been to several)

The bible says, “Draw nigh to the Lord and He will draw nigh to you.” I think this is why people leave churches. They aren’t drawing close to Jesus adn they don’t understand submitting to their pastor’s vision for the local church. They tell themselves they aren’t getting fed, but is that really the pastor’s fault? Or should we “work out our own salvation with fear and trembling?”

I’m not worried about the sad divisions in the church. See, if Christ warned us about it, doesn’t that mean its gonna happen anyway? Why would He warn us about something that isn’t gonna happen? So, its gonna happen. It happens in RCC, Prot and any church that is made up of PEOPLE!!!

So, I invite you too to knock yourself out. But, I’ve been through it for the last 6 years and be ready to be challenged with new perspectives and you probably can’t come up with a “new” argument or debate. So, forgive me if I lose interest.

No, you aren’t. It’s because you, as a non-denom, don’t eat his body and don’t drink his blood. You are also outside the Church founded by Jesus, you are not in the unity with Peter - the pope.

I’ll refer you to the MILLIONS of fruitless debates and arguments that tackle that issue. I’m done with that subject.

You too will join me in the surprise when we get to Heaven of how off base we all were. But, knowing Christ and His grace, that’ll be wiped away too and we’ll just enjoy eternity in peace and joy and worship of our Lord and Savior and King.

Hi

It is good you have found peace somewhere. There is definitely a good reason for disliking a wall between Catholics and Protestants.

Why don’t you take Catholics and Protestants along to get united with non-denominational.

I have myself never understood, if the Protestants protested against something then how long they would continue protesting. They should at least have a good name for their denomination, I think.

Jesus warned us about divisions but it doesn’t mean he wanted divisions. Not at all! He wanted (wants) us to live in unity. I’m glad you used the word “warned”, it means Jesus was talking about something we should avoid. Don’t compare CC in which there are over 1 billion people and protestant denominations that are completely divided into thousands denominations.
 
Well isnt this great. The spirit is working on you. Just to let you know, we need you with us. Hopefully the dialogue you encounter on the forum will always be charitable. When the faith is attacked, we all pretty well watch each others back.
The Catholic faith is about covenental relationship with Jesus. There are many aides to help with understanding the one flesh union. 👍

Ah, an accuser. No friend. I came because I’m grateful to the Catholic Church for providing me with my foundation of faith. I am a defender of the validity of those who walk with Christ through the Catholic Faith. I came here in hopes of seeing what we have in common. Mission: Failed and aborted…

But, what I have discovered is that many here have decided there is no riding the fence on this issue. They are trading in for the sake of how they have been taught to learn, to reject the movement of the Holy Spirit outside of the Catholic Church.

I continue to be literally astonished and confused as how anyone can read and study scripture and come up with the notion that the practices of the Catholic Church or the Protestant practices are above all and correct.

My stance is that errors began in the book of Acts. Do we see any Sacraments explained and practiced in the book of Acts? Or, do we see the beginnings of teachings on how to change our hearts and minds into the image of Christ? I think the things God wanted to teach us are CLEARLY pointed out in His Holy Word. There should be no need to debate and support doctrines and practices.

The OT and NT is SATURATED with the idea that its our hearts that need to be changed, purified and molded into the image of Christ. But, still, we hold up outward practices above true change of hearts.

Early on, I could tell it was impossible for me to remain here with what I sought out to do. I’ve experienced the deepest and sincerest of debates and arguments over these issues. I have yet to see fruit.

I’m trying to get past that. To show how people are coming to Christ in both places. How the poor, orphaned, widowed are being loved by both places.

If you can tolerate my views, I can tolerate the accusations. But, again, in all the finger pointing and accusations of my “false religion” and encounter with the devil as an “angel of light”, where are the fruits of the spirit? Where is the encouragement that Barnabas portrayed? Where’s the humility that Proverbs and Paul calls for in his epistles? Where’s the LOVE? 😃

Even more reason some here have lost credibility. Another reason why I’ll be more than happy to be fed and grow in my local church, and let God see my spirit grow. Nobody here can take away God’s precious gift of my eternal life, and the abundant life I now live in, since inviting Him into my heart.

Maybe you should seek references that are accurate and provide real numbers. No divisions in the Catholic Church? That’s simply incorrect. This 33,000 number being thrown around is also simply incorrect. More accurately, around 9,000.

But, I’m not about to enter that debate. It also, is fruitless. I don’t care about lifting one church above another with statistics and finger pointing and “mine is better than yours”.

It is very easy to judge a church’s fruits biblically. God bless those that share the Gospel of Christ and salvation by faith in our Savior. God Bless those that exhault, worship and praise Our Savior and King Christ Jesus. God bless those that care for the poor, widowed and the orphan. God bless those that encourage us to be in the world, but not of the world, to transform our hearts to that like Christ’s.

Its really that easy. I’ll see you all in Heaven and we can all apologize to one another for our silliness and enjoy eternity in the New Jerusalem, in our new glorified bodies in eternal worship and service to our Risen King, Christ Jesus.
