Just who exactly is Sean Hannity

I used to love him, but he hasn’t said anything new in over four years.

That makes me think…I’m losing all of my radio buddies.

1. Sean Hannity got boring.
2. Laura Ingraham spends WAY too much time talking about fashion, music, and movies.
3. Bill O’Reilly has gotten so full of himself that it pains me to listen to him, which is sad because my politics match his more than anyone else on AM.
4. I had to give up Michael Savage after his anti-Catholic stuff.

At least I’ll always have Rush.

I listen to Sean during the day and when I am not carpooling on the way home. I am a conservative but I am not as fond of President Bush as to give him a consistently clear slate like Sean or Rush.

He’s a bit of a broken record. I used to watch him but now he just uses the same old rant over and over. He is REALLY in love with George W. and utterly blinded by loyalty.

The “You’re a great American” catchphrase is nauseating. Hannity is a handsome man that no doubt brought lots of women into talk radio that might not have bothered to listen, but his jingoism and “shootouts” devolve political discussion into pointless shoutfests. Shows like his are junk food for right-wingers, nothing more.

P.S. I completely agree about Laura Ingraham. She has terrible taste in music.

I listen and watch Hannity, O’Reilly, and Savage. Savage is hilarious. He is the most erudite person on the radio.

I agree that Savage is probably the most widely read conservative radio talk show host, but he does not have the analytical ability to weave it all into a coherent world view. He has knowledge and emotion, but not enough wisdom to temper them. Entertaining, absolutely. But I just can’t take him seriously.

Then you haven’t heard him enough. He lost me when he attacked the Church after the priest scandals broke out. He thinks priests should marry, and he wasn’t afraid to say so. He also is namby-pamby on life, giving in to abortion in cases of rape and incest. He also gives in on contraception. I believe he hasn’t said anything about these things lately. He must have realized he was losing people like me, but he was too late – for the most part I just don’t listen anymore. I admit I wouldn’t know if he’s changed his mind on some of the Catholic dogmas since I don’t listen much, so I hope he may have “seen the light”. But I think he’s more like a carnival barker and salesman, trying to be ‘everyman’ – a friend to everyone, with no convictions of his own. That’s my take.

My favorite political talkers now are Hugh Hewitt, and Dennis Praeger. They’re both more intellectual than most others. I also like Michael Medved. I listen to Rush sometimes yet because he’s on, and he first introduced me to conservatism.

All in all, though, I’m more inclined these days to listen to Catholic programming.

When I first discovered Sean Hannity on the
radio I enjoyed listening to him… upbeat,
engaging, etc. But, over time, he does become
a bit of a broken record, using hackneyed
phrases, ad nauseum!

They pulled Bill O’Reilly from the lunchtime
slot here in Austin… His show was my favorite,
regardless of his ego… I like O’Reilly’s mind.
He is probably the most balanced of the
“entertaining” talk show hosts. His show is now
at 6 am when the reception on the AM radio
station is fuzzy… Sigh!!!

Laura used to be good…

Wish I could get Dennis Praeger… Very
insightful guy and nice radio persona…

Michael Savage… only when I need a good dose
of adrenaline!!! LOL

And then, last but not least… The Rushmeister…
With “talent on loan from Gawd!”… He’s still fun
to listen to. He really is an entertainer and some
people don’t, to this day, understand Rush’s
schtick… Rush set the pattern for talk radio,
starting 18 years ago… Everyone has followed
the patern, from bumper music, interacting with
the technicians, funny bits, etc.

I don’t agree with Rush quite often, but I still like
this “Lovable little fuzzball.” LOL

my husband hates HAnity. he says he’s got his nose too close to bush’s posterior. he gets sick of him defending bush like he’s God or something. I don’t listen to talk radio personally except for EWTN, so I have no opinion of the man. except he made mad on his junk about abortion, rape and insest. I hate the rape and insest cry. it irks me so badly! and it’s very old.

Hannity (Like Limbaugh) doesnt let facts get in the way of their shows.

If there’s a pro Bush or pro Iraq war position out there that will fit on a bumper sticker, be sure Sean will repeat those mantras til his viewers have been “Hannitized”…ie…HYPNOTIZED with the propaganda…its funny, cuz U could always tell when a “Hannitized” caller phones in the Ed Shultz Show ( a highly intelligent progressive) all they got are the bumper sticker bullet points to agrue with and when they run out of bumper sticker phrases in trying to discuss complex issues about war and Bush, Ed then starts hitting them with details and facts, they ALWAYS resort to name calling and then hanging up.

Its hilarious and never gets stale. So far Ed has challenged Hannity and Rush on numerous occasions in a monetary debate-off with the winner donating their winnings to charity…neither of these guys have taken him up on his offer. Hannity is lite weight who cant argue beyond his own talking point phrases.

I loved watching Sean back in 2000 that is when I got hooked on Fox News. Now he and the rest of the group at Fox are so boring and redundant I no longer watch it like I used to.

I do listen to Rush, who treats his callers much better than Sean. Heaven forbid you disagree with Sean he will slam the phone on you. He is such a shrill now.

I agree with him on most political issues not all. I do know he is against partial birth abortion and same sex marriages. I didnt hear him say anything about priests marrying, or the abortion in the case of incest issue, I dont agree of course on those. He is a decent man I believe, my Father also is a decent man who has some wild beliefs about the Church and says priests should marry. I have debated him on those issues as well. But its hard to say that someone isnt a good person because they dont believe exactly what we do or anything.

Rush does not always agree with President Bush. Two big examples would be the Harriet Myers nomination and illegal immigration. Not sure about Hannity, as I do not listen to him often.

And what’s all this about Laura Ingraham? I just started listening to her a few weeks ago, and now she is my “healthy radio addiction.” I love her use of sound bytes and her pro-military stance, and her patriotism (jingoism to you liberals. Sorry - you progressives. ) I also enjoy the close watch she keeps on the media and their frequent ridiculousness.

Also a huge fan of Neal Boortz. The guy’s debating skills are unmatched. I am amazed at his ability to systematically deconstruct an opponant’s argument. He is extremely knowledgeable about the Constitution. Don’t agree with his religious views, but other than that, I think the man is brilliant.

But at the top of my list, it’s got to be El Rushbo. He got me hooked on talk radio back in 1994 when I was in eighth grade, and I have since been a regular listener. I got to meet him at a golf tournament in Monterey, CA in 2003. I agree with the poster who spoke of his “shtick.” Rush says a lot of things tongue-in-cheek, and the longer you listen, the better you become at “getting” it. Rush is a legend and a joy to listen to for his humor and optimism.

I guess there are different stroke for different folks. I gave up Rush because I felt he was boring. Same for Sean Hannity.

Try Glenn Beck. He’s hillariously entertaining.

I listen to both Rush and Hannity and find them entertaining, in small doses. Personally, I don’t give either of them(particularly Hannity) much credit as being good thinkers. I know they are intelligent and I do agree with their politics, but give me a break. Very rarely do they take an issue and analyze it, allowing listeners to take an educated stance on the subject. They are more focused on defending the Bush administration NO MATTER WHAT. In this aspect, they are really not much different than the high profile spokespeople on the left, who are focused on bashing Bush, NO MATTER WHAT. Just my opinion. That said, I’ll take a Hannity over a Franken any day of the week.
