Sometimes I wonder: do you have the same angel throughout your life? Does your angel ever call for back-up, i.e., extra angels in difficult situations? Was your angel assigned to somebody else before you were born? Will he be reassigned when your life on earth is over? Just wondering.

delighted I don’t have an answer, I just thought it was a GREAT question (rather, series of questions). 😃

And, for that matter, is your guardian angel assigned to you, or does he choose you?

Are all guardian angels male???

Angels are purely spiritual beings. They have no physical form, thus no gender.

:doh2: But of course - thank you, I should have thought of that!

(but if we can’t refer to them as ‘he’ or ‘she’, is ‘it’ appropriate? Or is ‘he’ used in the non-gender-related manner of ‘mankind’?)

“He” is used most, probably becuase those angels’ names we know are masculine (Raphael, Micael, etc.)

Once again, dear Tim, yours is the voice of reason, calming what was threatening to turn into a downright silly train of thought on my part. 😃

That makes sense … the names we do know are male. Beautiful!

Thank you, sir!

As for the original questions of this thread, I don’t know how to answer them except for that we on Earth know very little about the angels, so those questions really can’t be answered.

I read a Catholic book abut Gaurdian Angels, but I don’t think there is any definitive answer as to whether we keep the same Angel throughout life—but let’s think about it: If our Gaurdian Angel is a friend, I am sure God would have him/her be a devoted and loyal friend, because well, God would make the Angels good like that:D

In reference to second qu on back-up Angels, i read that some people are assigned several Angels, according to their state in life—how much trouble they are apt to get into.

I believe I remember reading that each Angel is assigned to one person, and it is that one Angel’s duty to help and inspire you all the way to Heaven, and there they adore the Trinity with you forever and ever, Amen. This is popular belief, but who knows—I would tell my Angel—“hey get crackin! there is more inspiring to do on Earth still!!” You could even help too, I guess, alongside with St. Therese who spends her Heaven bringing down a shower of roses on mankind (inspiring mandkind to love Jesus).
Work Work Work! But I imagine the Angel would still be a particularly close friend too, to you still, even if he were helping others on Earth, along with all of Heaven!!

 ❤️ Isn’t it WONDERFUL to contemplate?? ❤️

p.s The book also says that devotion to the Angels is a marvelous sign of predestination!😛

I also wonder, is your angel ashamed of you when you sin? Are the angels offended by the silly ways in which they are sometimes depicted in art and in movies or TV commercials? Are they insulted by having a brand of toilet paper called “Angel Soft”?

It is said that an angel is assigned to every nation on earth.

Angels come into our lives in times of jeopardy and appear in human form. We do not realize who they are at the moment. Oftentimes the “giveaway” that they are an angel is that they seem to vanish into thin air.

Many books written on encounters with angels.

I think many depictions through the years of angels being “delicate” in appearance is true…much like the angels of the time of The Nativity.

Michael, the Archangel, is awesome in size and bearing, he is God’s Warrior and the one who drove Satan to the bottom of Hell and chained him for the allotted time.

There is no angel quite like MICHAEL. However, they each have their roles concerning serving God as related to mankind.

From the CCC on Angels:

"336 From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession.202 "Beside each believer stands ***an angel ***as protector and shepherd leading him to life."203 " (my emphasis)

So looks like each person has ONE guardian angel throughout their life. Even if our angel doesn’t call for spiritual backup WE certainly can call on St Michael, St Raphael and St Gabriel and all the other blessed angels in times of need, and surely they will help us and our guardian!

The CCC says our angel stays with us through life, of course they will be with us in heaven too if/when we get there - they’re always there. Whether they’re reassigned to others after we die - who knows.

I like the thought of an angel being created by God specially for each new human soul - God would know exactly how many he’d need, too, he’s good that way 😉

That’s what I’ve always wondered. If each guardian angel has only one soul through eternity that they are responsible for (are there even enough guardian angels to cover all of mankind?), or do hey get re-assigned upon death to a new baby?

Hhmmmm, I guess I’ll get my question answered when I get to Heaven. 🙂

Perhaps your guardian angel stays with you in Purgatory?

Since it is their job to inspire you to do good, they are probably sad when you choose sin.

:hmmm:Hmmmm , to the other 2 questions…
🤷 I don’t know.😃
