hmmmmmm…"I’ve been starting to wonder why people pray to the Saints asking for them to ask God to help us out. "…BECAUSE IT WORKS! 👍

How do we know and where does this idea come from?
God the Father does not associate with sinful man. Christ … the God-man was appointed to ‘bridge the gap’ (mediate or intercede) between sinful man and Holy Father.

Christ alone can present us to the Father. W/O our mediator … our prayers to a holy God are ineffectual.

However, once a ‘rebirthed Christian’ receives H.S … then via H.S. they can pray to the Father [thru the spirit of Christ] … as Christ taught us to [in Lord’s Prayer].

We ask for their prayers on our behalf because death does not separate those who are united in the Communion of the Saints, for all who are in Christ are likewise joined one to another. It is according to our nature created by God to do things together for a common purpose. It is our love for one another that impels us to pray for one another and to want others to pray for us. The Saints are our brothers and sisters who are in God’s Presence; but some people don’t like this interdependence.

The Christian Tradition from the beginning declares that the interest of the Saints in Heaven will be increased a hundredfold, because they will realize then more fully our needs and necessities. St. Jerome (350-420) is a striking witness to this fact. He writes:

These two articles are but two of several articles available on the subject at THIS ROCK magazine (linked to above):

I am a Protestant with many Catholic friends and this is by far the best explanation I have seen. Thanks for your post.

It works when I pray through Christ, my Master, Lord and Savior! We are supposed to be in continual prayer. As a Christian (I include both Catholics and Protestants in that definition), Christ should live and reign in us constantly such that we are in constant communication with him.
