Justification

Hi there. Can someone help me understand what justification is. And also how does the Catholic view differ from the Protestant view. Thanks. God Bless.
 
Usually we one means “initial Justification”…

How? briefly and in summary…

We are justified by Jesus Christ…

by grace via Faith and Baptism…

it is a free gift from God …not something we do anything to earn.

(Then of course we need to remain “in Christ” and thus live in him…in charity…

and if we commit a mortal sin…we need to be renewed in his grace by his grace …normally via Confession…where Jesus absolves our sins…)

Often the disagreements come from trying to understand Paul.

Justification is being seen as acceptable by God. This normally occurs at Baptism. This is an immediate process. We can lose our justification through mortal sin and need to be restored to grace. We can not earn justification and we can not work toward it, it is a gift of God.

Sanctification is a process that begins at justification and is a life-long journey. This is growing more Christlike as we live in his commandments and act out his grace in our lives.
 
So it is kind of how the sinner is made righteous by God?
