"Justified"

Any other “Justified”/Elmore Leonard fans?

The show is drawing to a close (I’ve already asked for the inevitable Blu-ray boxed set when it releases).
 
I’ve been following it from the first season and I love it.

Didn’t think that Boyd Crowder would turn into the central character he has.

Havent read the books, which might have spoiled my surprise, lol.

Raylon is a personal hero of mine. 😃
 
Hey!

Evidently the fellows that play Boyd and Raylan are buddies. Boyd was meant for just an episode or two but was so well-liked they kept him. Now he an Raylan are each other’s Captain Ahabs. 😉

I don’t think there is a book series. The show is based on a novella or a short story. There is novel that Leonard wrote after the show started that incorporates elements.

I am ready for it too. But it is bittersweet, though I am sure it will be great, it will also be the last and that saddens me in a way.

I suspect that The Givens-Crowder rivalry will explode into a gun draw, with Givens winning as usual. Crowder will try to pull some ruse or trick but Givens will expect that, knowing Boyd the way he does. I also suspect he is going to save Ava and pull something surprising to keep her out of jail, maybe turning in the millions for a pardon from the governor? I don’t know, but it will be a shock whatever it is.

The new quick-draw guy is part buffoon and part showman. The man is talented and well trained, but his propensity to go for headshots will do him in. His final target will do what many do and why you should aim center of body; they’ll duck.
 
Oh, I agree completely.

I think that Boone kid is so skeezy and gross I want him to get it, hoping Loretta (little Mag Bennett) gets to do it. I don’t know why Avery gets these nutty loose cannons to hang around. Neck beard was a good villain, like Quarles in the third season.

I kinda hope Duffy gets the heck outta Dodge, so to speak. I cried when Mikey saved him and dropped the key for him. 😦 Bless that poor kid’s heart. I know; my husband thinks it’s weird and he hopes Duffy gets what’s coming to him. I hope he’s smart enough to run, fast, out of the state! No dog grooming van, just a car that gets good gas mileage!

I reckon it’s fixing to come down to Art, Raylan, and Boyd. Oh my. Art said he would come after Raylan. Yikes.

Well, I’m off social media and the Internet in general until I see it tonight. I’m stoked. This has been my show. I know these characters and I grew up in a holler. I’ve loved Elmore Leonard’s work since I was a little girl. This will be a bittersweet night for me.

Hope ol’ Raylan stays around and maybe we get some good TV movies. Good ones. I trust the writers though.

This has been a great ride and another great western in Leonard’s collection, along with 3:10 to Yuma. 👍

Just saw it and it was the best episode yet.

Still, it leaves some question…but that can wait.
 
I just started getting into it, so I’m only on the second season. No spoilers please!
 
I was hoping to chat about the finale. We could start another thread maybe for earlier seasons?

I’ve watched every episode from the beginning. Realizing the end would thus come soon was an additional sadness when Elmore Leonard passed away.

I wish the series were available on Xfinity’s demand service or Netflix. Or that my bride would share with me her Amazon Prime paswd. 😛

Yes, Boyd Crowder was supposed to die, as he did in the story Fire in the Hole, but the character was too good (bad?) to let go.

There are 3 novels and a short story that comprise the Rayland series of Elmore Leonard.

    Of these, only the last was written/published after the television adaptations began. I have listened to them all on Audible books, and highly recommend them. 🙂

But since I’ve only watched in real-broadcast time (not binge watching): What ever happened to the Detroit mob? Did they just decide Harlan wasn’t worth it and pull up stakes?[/SIGN1]

[SIGN]The series always presented Duffy and his associates as representing the “Dixie Mafia”, aka ‘Detroit’ at least from the perspective of Boyd and his associates, who saw themselves as out gunned by ‘Detroit’ with Duffy as the local rep in Kentucky. They were thus not willing to mess with Duffy and were willing to ingratiate themselves when opportunity presented itself. Now with most of that $10 million, Duffy can start his own criminal organization.

In reflection, the series seemed to be a morality tale whose motto was that by far the most dangerous person to a criminal is another criminal. [/SIGN]

You’re probably right which…
[SIGN1]…makes all the more surprising Duffy’s reveal as a rat. Can you believe Detroit never caught on to that (even if it was in his relatively remote past?)???[/SIGN1]

Yes, the wrap for that character was very true to Elmore Leonard (as is that proposed moral to the story) – I can easily imagine the character showing up in future stories, were the author still among us.
