JW armageddon

Weird, one of those pictures says “Jesus Christ, the Chosen King, will destroy the world” but I thought that JWs don’t believe Jesus is a King let alone, GOD. I am pretty sure that they believe him to be the Archangel Michael.

Its either a Catholic Church or another Christian Church in the background.

I know that they believe only 144,000 will make it to Heaven and it will only be JWs according to their beliefs. (They get the # from Revelation I believe).

Judgement day won’t be like that - it looks like a combination of the “Rapture” that protestants believe in and an asteroid falling to the Earth.
 
I don’t know that it’s necessarily a Catholic church… but rather just a generic sort of “Church” that would represent all Chrisitan religions since the JW’s believe that only their’s is the true faith and that only JW’s will survive God’s wrath at Armageddon.

I was always so depressed/scared as a JW… they paint such a horribly bleak picture of the world & since I was invloved from a young teen and then into adulthood, they really warped my view of, not only my future - but of the world as well. I feel such pity for them. 😦
 
We believe Jesus is a King in heaven.

That is one of the reasons I used to describe to kids when I was young why I didn’t celebrate xmas. We don’t believe that Jesus is a baby in a manger. And that is how xmas always represents it. No wonder kids are confused.

But the church picture. . .yea, I can see how that would be upsetting. I honestly think i’ts just supposed to be a generic sort of “false religion” thing though. Not that that will probably comfort many of you anyway. . . lol.

::edit:: Also, I have NEVER been told that JWs were the only ones who would survive armaggedon. Only Jehovah can determine that by reading people’s hearts. Humans have no idea who will be alive and who won’t.

Maybe they’ve changed their thinking since I was a JW - it has been several years… but I remember learning that just like the “ark” was the only protection during the Great Flood in Noah’s day, so the Organization will be the only protection during Armegeddon.

I think there’s a picture form the WT on the link from the first post that depicts that?

I found one of the images a little more disturbing (than the rest)… Middle of the page (or so) labled pg. 29. Of a man in red…

I found a picture from that link that was quite disturbing… About half way down the page, labled pg. 29 (of a man in red)

That may or may not be a Catholic Church in the picture, but on the page you provided, there is clearly a Catholic Cardinal portrayed as a false believer in Christ.

Someone on another thread asked: What is “anti-Catholic?” This is the very epitome.
 
What is dipicted:
A lack of compassion for one’s fellow man.
No horror of the bodies and blood.
No fear that that falling building or fireball just might land on you.
Complete disregard for anyone or thing other ther one’s jw self.
All survivors are in their 20’s and 30’s. (except for a couple of kids and one old guy)
A vengeful “god” with no care or love for his creations or environment.
Joy at watching the destruction of family and friends who aren’t jws.

But I think it’s very important that we make a distinction between the leaders of the Watchtower Society and the average witness. The average witness believes they are in the true faith… serving God and that they have a message that must be shared - which is why they preach door to door. It was suggested that they don’t care about others who aren’t JW’s … that isn’t true. They care very deeply which is why they spend so much time witnessing.

Unfortunatly, the message they have been taught & hope to teach others is false. And often times… even they are unaware of the actual beliefs of their faith… which is why Jaded said that only God knows a person’s heart. Witnesses such as her who are very kind hearted have a hard time with the fact that they are to believe that ONLY JW’s will survive. But as it was linked… it is a true belief of the Watchtower. And with all that is taught by the Watchtower…not one that is open to question or discussion.
 
Once again - I agree with Carol Marie. And despite what the official statements of the WT Society are, I suspect that an increasing number of JWs believe (but keep it to themselves) that they are not the only ones that will survive Armageddon.

I just think that if you have that view of other religions, you should stay out of the other religions forum because obviously you can’t handle other opinions.

What a collection of pictures that site provides. This does not reflect the understanding of a loving God I have been taught to know and love.

Jaded, this is quite different from the Catholic teachings of God your children will come to know.

You might find the Catholic understanding of God to be an interesting subject to explore. He believes in both Justice and Mercy and we are to work in the world, with creation, towards His means. We aren’t always good at doing His Will, but we are certainly meant to try and improve in doing so.

Murder, mayhem and carnage! Frightening stuff! Do JW’s use fear to keep their members?

I noticed 2 very anti-Catholic pictures p13 and p29. Oh, and don’t forget to take note of the “happy, smiley people” that represent the JW’s.

The key word here is “religion”. Jehovah’s Witness is viewed as a cult more than anything else. To say that I have a bad view of other religions is quite a sweeping statement, my boyfriend is Lutheran yet I don’t accuse him of being “twisted”, my best friend is Methodist yet I don’t accuse her of being “twisted”. Being “twisted” only applies to certain things (including cults). 😉

The first post lists the the common beliefs of the Watchtower Society and the World Wide Church of God. It’s my understanding that the founders of both groups - Russell (WT) and Armstrong (WWCG) were togehter for several years under the same “Bible Students” banner. They parted ways when Armstrong disagreed with Russell’s methods of making the “organization” grow. But that explains why the two religions were so similar.

The World Wide Church of God suffered a major split maybe 10 years ago (?) when many of the leaders announced they were wrong about several of their key beliefs - preaching against the Trinity being one them. Although they lost many members who were unwilling to change - the leaders really did a total turn around and they have since become much more mainstream in their beliefs and are no longer considered a “cult” by groups who classify such things.

I will jump for joy if the Watchtower Society does the same.
