Can we just change the name of this thread to:

“zerinus’ beef with Catholic stance on abortion” ?
That is not true at all. I started this thread because I thought it was an interesting story about the JW stance on blood transfusion (and some of its tragic consequences). But at the same time I thought there was an interesting parallel with the Catholic stance on abortion which was worth mentioning. It is the posters here who have decided to focus on the Catholic aspect of it rather than on the JW one. I am not responsible for that. I am merely responding to their posts.

**2271 **Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

Now, I’m not sure if it would be against Catholic teaching or not to procure an abortion to save the mother’s life since it says ‘direct abortion’.

Buffalo chips.

Your OP:
It looks like JWs and Catholic each have their own way of killing their poor mothers for dubious “religious” reasons.
You state that the Catholic stance opposing abortion in all instances is a dubious religious reason in your opening remarks. The reasoning behinds not killing a life to save a life in your mind is a dubious religious reason. The idea that relativism is not to be given into is a dubious religious reason. The Catholic stance on abortion is equated to the JW stance on not having blood transfusions because both are dubious religious reasonings.

In the case of the article the woman made her own choice, there was no JW elder or other leader holding a gun to her head.

In any case where a woman chooses not to abort her baby against medical advice and she dies also does so without any Catholic Priest or other leader holding a gun to her head.

Well yeah, but that is not what zerinus believes so it must be wrong!

Thank you. Now we have it in black and white. So according to Catholic law it is wrong to perform an abortion to save a mother’s life. Let the mother die rather than perform an abortion. Hang the mother no matter what!

Which is worse, being a JW or a Catholic if you happen to be a poor innocent mother?

Got any statistical information on how many Catholic Mothers are dying because of not procuring abortions?

I vote for being a Mormon, but that is just my dubious Christian opinion.

Why is the mother’s life always more important to you than the childs?

zerinus:
Why is the live of the fetus always more important than the life of the Mother?Because the mother assumes the risks of having a child. One of those risks is the death of the mother.

And I say that that is a callous, immoral, and criminal thing to say or believe in. You must hate your wife, if you have one.

I hate my wife because I stand up for the Catholic views on abortion?

Coitus off, phallus cranium.

I answered that in post 32.

zerinus
No, you did not answer it at all. You simply stated your opinion in an insulting manner. You have made it clear that the only correct morality is your own and everyone else is wrong. Good luck becoming a “god”. You can make up your own rules then.

No one “assumes the risk of dying” by choosing to become pregnant when the procedure exists to save her life–even if that means aborting her fetus. She will always have the opportunity to become pregnant again.

Abortion is never necessary to save a woman’s life.

BS! You assume risk with everything including pregnancy! That statement is ignorant. When my wife was pregnant our doctor talked to us about the risks. And before you tell me how horrible a husband I am, it was my wife who told me that in the highly unlikely chance it came down to her or the baby we were to save the baby. It is important to her that her baby have the opportunity to live life. It’s just easier for you to see women as something to produce a commodity for you isn’t it?
