the theme here is the role of christ in creation which alludes to the wisdom motifs in the ot; in prov 3:19 wisdom is described as an agent in creation; in prov 8:22-31, wisdom, created first, is a partner in the work of yhwh (cf wisdom 7:22; 9:2-4).
Yes indeed, the father sends the son and the spirit proceeds from the son. How does this affect his unity in being with the father? The whole mission is one of obedience to the will of the father to undo the disobedience of adam. It is through his acceptance of the father’s will jesus shows us how to find perfection in our humanity; he shows us that we are unable to control our destiny and so must accept what comes, whether we want to or not. The way in which we accept these things and stay true to what we believe is what matures the vintage of our faith. The story of adam and eve teaches us that adam chose trust in self rather than trust in god and that resulted in death because there is nothing, no life, outside of god—there is only death. Therefore, the way in which we defeat death is through fidelity to god, through faith; simply because it is in this that all our false pretensions to ‘immortality’ are unmasked. Faith presents us with the truth about ourselves and we can recognize how we are truly held in existence by nothing more than god’s will. In order to attain communion with god again, it becomes necessary for one to cross the threshold of death, one who is utterly pure and therefore has nothing to fear from death’s confrontation with reality. Jesus is the one who trusts god this way, he trusts god to death, he can truly obey his father with all his heart and soul and therefore this is why he is the perfect ‘trailblazer’; he is the one who successfully goes through death into everlasting life and thus becomes the way for us. The value as redemption, reparation, atonement and satisfaction, which is conferred on christ’s sacrifice, is because of his “love to the end”
“the existence in christ of the divine person of the son, who at once surpasses and embraces all human persons and constitutes himself as the head of all mankind, makes possible his redemptive sacrifice for all.” ccc 616
the new testament makes clear and vigorous allusion to christ’s death as a true sacrifice, “a supreme act of worship to be rendered to god alone.”

Jesus Christ recognized his Father as his God. To Mary Magdalene, Jesus said: “I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.” (John 20:17)

How do you explain this?

Code:
                   "MY GOD" JOHN 20:17

John 20:17 "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." (KJV)

The question raised by Jehovah's Witnesses is why did Jesus call the Father "my God"? Does this imply that Jesus Himself is not God? NO!

Why didn't Jesus say, "I am ascending to ‘our' Father and ‘our' God"? The reason is that Jesus was always careful to distinguish His relationship with the Father from the relationship humans had to the Father. Jesus was careful to distinguish between the two because He was God's Son by nature, wheras Christians are God's sons by adoption.
Similary, the Father was Jesus’ God because Jesus humbled himself to become a man (Phil.2:7), wheras the Father is our God because we are by nature creatures.

We dont care if they get angry, the cross we use, is the cross that Christ has used and the apostles used as well, You may want to ask your founder himself CT Russell who used a cross in his own grave.
Wow. I stirred up a hornets nest! Check out all the angry posts from an Assyrian wearing a cross the Catholic Church adopted! Sorry if the truth offends you.
the Watchtower is a member all right, and they kept this a secret to all members, and as an associate member the Watchtower are bound to support the Objectives of the UN. Read the proof yourself

An excerpt from a letter dated October 11, 2001, from the Chief, NGO Section of the United Nations Department of Public Information (emphasis mine):1This organization [the Watchtower Society] applied for association with DPI [the United Nations Department of Public Information] in 1991 and was granted association in 1992. By accepting association with DPI, the organization agreed to meet criteria for association, including support and respect of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations **and commitment and means to conduct effective information programmes with its constituents and to a broader audience about UN activities.
On this UN thing. They weren’t a memeber " all along". you said in your earlier post it was 1992 they became an “Associate member of the United Nations Department of Public Information” (whatever that is) and then resigned or something in 2001! (All along?)

It is truly a secret, in fact, when a lot of JW read the expose, thousand of calls were received by the UN DPI then the Watchtower decided to pullout, it was a total shame.
Also, they knew all along that it was a UN Thing, the UN require an annual accreditation, that the watch tower renews every year.
It isn’t a secret. I vaguely remember hearing about it at (a meeting I think). something about the Wt society signing up and later resigning when they realised it was official UN stuff
.
You know very little because you were not informed, even your elders are not informed.
We keep seperate from the political world, so couldn’t be attached to that. I know very little about it.
That’s the evil world, not the world itself, God said love your Enemy, we are involve to help them back to the right path, that is the Catholic church.
I see from your link there are lots of Catholic groups signed up. Jesus said his Kingdom was no part of the world.(John 18:36) Why are they so involved?

You need to realize that the watchtower is deceiving you and what they spread is not true, the Magazine that “should you believe in the trinity” has no basis, Read the part regarding the church fathers and there is no reference to what they (church father) say. The church fathers truly believes that Christ is God. if you want reference to the exact wording of the church fathers, i can send it to you.
But I don’t doubt you are right. Somehow the religion I belong to logged on to a United Nations political media thing for several years before realising their mistake.
What shall I do brother?
Yes, Join the Catholic Church. - Listen to what the Jews actually say, in fact, the Chief Rabbi of Rome became catholic because the kindness and love that the Pope had shown to their people.
Shall i resign? - and join a religion that signed a deal with the Nazi government in 1933?
The concordat between the Third Reich and the Vatican, which was concluded July 20, 1933. Signed by the future Pope no less. (I am interested. Did the Catholic church ever resign from that agreement?)
Join the church that christ build in 33AD that up to now is still present. you know it!
Hmmm. Difficult decision:
You cannot hide the truth that the Beast the watchtower teaches and the Harlot riding the beast, one part of it is the Watch tower…also riding the beast.
Nazi ? where are they now, Gone and died, but the catholic church is still alive.
Where are the JW heavenly hopes in the Watchtower, most are gone, but the Catholic church will still be alive.
JW’s clumsily signed up to UN media thing for a few years or indefinate support of the Nazi party? Which?
Lets get it on.
Ha ha. Don’t get me started!

Christ did say, to my Father and your Father, not “Our Father” to mean that we become sons by adoption. and to my God and your God, not “Our God” to show that we become sons of God by his salvation.

Christ said my God just as the Father said “O God”… and Lord to Christ in Heb Chapter 1
Jesus Christ recognized his Father as his God. To Mary Magdalene, Jesus said: “I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.” (John 20:17)

How do you explain this?

In response to the 1933 concordat between the Holy See and Germany. First lets see what a concordat really is.

" A concordat is an agreement between the Holy See and the government of a country on religious matters This often included both recognition and privileges for the Catholic Church in a particular country. Privileges might include exemptions from certain legal matters and processes, and issues such as taxation as well as the right of a state to influence the selection of bishops within its territory".

Are you trying to say that the Church help start the Nazi regime?

Look how much the Church apposed the nazi regime, and how much Catholic clergy were executed in the gas chambers. Look how many people the Church saved. What did the JW do?

From wiki

Church leaders were realistic about the Concordat’s supposed protections.[7] Cardinal Faulhaber is reported to have said: “With the concordat we are hanged, without the concordat we are hanged, drawn and quartered.”[8] In Rome the Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Pacelli (later Pius XII), told the British minister to the Holy See that he had signed the treaty with a pistol at his head. Hitler was sure to violate the agreement, Pacelli said — adding with gallows humor that he would probably not violate all its provisions at once.[7]

When the Nazi government violated the concordat (in particular article 31), bishops and the papacy protested against these violations. Between September 1933 and March 1937 Pacelli issued over seventy notes and memoranda protesting such violations, culminating in his draft of the 1937 papal encyclical Mit brennender Sorge (“With Burning Concern”) issued by Pope Pius XI.[7]

Let it be known that Hitler was also excommunicated.

Regardless, before you persecute the Church because of WWII you need to learn more about what actually happened and the difference between what the anti Catholic people want you to believe.

Before you comment I would like you to read ALL of “How Pius XII Protected Jews” by Jimmy Akin. Here is the link catholic.com/library/HOW_Pius_XII_PROTECTED_JEWS.asp

God Bless 🙂

Yes, and from what I understand JW’s are not necessarily against abortion or euthansia. I had the gd of a patient who did her darndest to euthanize her gm. I’m still not over that. Any religious system that can rationalize those two is not legitimate.

Well done. I’ve never had a JW come anywhere near my house or neighborhood or even my city.

I live in a very anti-JW society, pro Protestant/Catholic city. It’s awesome to be honest. 😃

A nice lady, who is a Jehovah Witness stopped by my house, she came in and we started talking about the Bible. As we talked I asked her about their form of Baptisum. I asked her if they Baptised in the Name of the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit as they imersed the person and they came up out of the water.

I was floored when she told me, well not really. She said the Words are not said over the person, but yet the person, knows, that’s what they are doing, that since there are so many being baptised at once that they are told “A head” of time that this is what it means.

We then looked up in “their” bible, the words where Jesus said to baptise in the Name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. She then even read this out loud, then said to me, well he (Jesus) really didn’t mean it that way.

She explained to me that just putting someone under the water was a “profession of faith” and that’s all it ment.

It didn’t surprise me at all that even though “their” bible says what Jesus says, it was “over looked”. I know that several of the JW’s refuse to even take a good look at their own “Religion” and their errors.

I did sugget to her a couple of things…(she’s very hard headed.)
  1. Do a search on the Bible…how it came together ect.
  2. Do a search on the background of her own church…(all the differnt things they’ve believed over the years and how they’ve changed their “format of beliefs”.
  3. I also suggested, that if she wants people to “listen” to her, then she needs to respect “others” and be a good listener back. (as she would always interrupt me when I was talking and wanting to share my thoughts.)
Of course she wants to do a Bible Study. I highly doubt she’ll be back as I offered to do a “Catholic Bible Study” with her too.

Just thought I’d share this.
You should’ve asked her about the 26 “martyrs” that they allege sacraficed themselves for the JW cult…oh excuse me “faith”.

This has to do with their blood law. The 26 were children!

marlo;5855459]…but the catholic church is still alive.
Where are the JW heavenly hopes in the Watchtower, most are gone, but the Catholic church will still be alive
.

Lets get it on.
Carefull marlo …(Revelation 18:7-8) …To the extent that she glorified herself and lived in shameless luxury, to that extent give her torment and mourning. For in her heart she keeps saying, ‘I sit a queen, and I am no widow, and I shall never see mourning.’ 8 That is why in one day her plagues will come, death and mourning and famine, and she will be completely burned with fire, because Jehovah God, who judged her, is strong.

We believe this is directed to the entire world Empire of False Religion. but, mostly toward Christendom…not the people, but the non christian backgrounds of their teachings. Immortal Soul; Hellfire; Trinity: Earth’s destruction…

However, don’t forget the position the people are leaving themselves in…if they don’t heed the warning.

.(Revelation 18:4-5) ...And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues. 5 For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind.

this is not talking about Rome, or just the Catholic Church as some have stated…

notice how we know that…:

(Revelation 18:22-24) …And the sound of singers who accompany themselves on the harp and of musicians and of flutists and of trumpeters will never be heard in you again, and no craftsman of any trade will ever be found in you again, and no sound of a millstone will ever be heard in you again, 23 and no light of a lamp will ever shine in you again, and no voice of a bridegroom and of a bride will ever be heard in you again; because your traveling merchants were the top-ranking men of the earth, for by your spiritistic practice all the nations were misled. 24 Yes, in her was found the blood of prophets and of holy ones and of all those who have been slaughtered on the earth.”

…starting with Able over a religious ceremony.

(Genesis 4:2-5) ...And Abel came to be a herder of sheep, but Cain became a cultivator of the ground. 3 And it came about at the expiration of some time that Cain proceeded to bring some fruits of the ground as an offering to Jehovah. 4 But as for Abel, he too brought some firstlings of his flock, even their fatty pieces. Now while Jehovah was looking with favor upon Abel and his offering, 5 he did not look with any favor upon Cain and upon his offering. And Cain grew hot with great anger, ...

…(Genesis 4:8) .*After that Cain said to Abel his brother: “Let us go over into the field.”] So it came about that while they were in the field Cain proceeded to assault Abel his brother and **kill *him.

Gotta run…

*** rs p. 25 - p. 26 Abortion ***
Definition: Abortion is the expulsion of an embryo or a fetus that is not normally able to live outside the womb. Spontaneous abortion or miscarriage may result from human imperfection or from an accident. Deliberately induced abortion simply to avoid the birth of an unwanted child is the willful taking of human life.

How should the Source of human life affect our view of this matter?

Acts 17:28: “By him [God] we have life and move and exist.”
Ps. 36:9: “With you [Jehovah God] is the source of life.”

Rom. 14:12: “Each of us will render an account for himself to God.”
Does Jehovah view the life of a child as precious even during the very early stages of development after conception?

Ps. 139:13-16: “You [Jehovah] kept me screened off in the belly of my mother. ... Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book all its parts were down in writing.”
Has God ever stated that a person would be called to account for injury to an unborn child?
Ex. 21:22,*23: “In case men should struggle with each other and they really hurt a pregnant woman and her children do come out but no fatal accident occurs, he is to have damages imposed upon him without fail according to what the owner of the woman may lay upon him; and he must give it through the justices. But if a fatal accident should occur, then you must give soul for soul.” (Some translations make it appear that in this law to Israel the crucial matter was what happened to the mother, not to the fetus. The original Hebrew text, however, refers to a fatal accident to either mother or child.)

How serious is the willful taking of a human life for a reason not authorized by God?
Gen. 9:6: “Anyone shedding man’s blood, by man will his own blood be shed, for in God’s image he made man.”

1*John 3:15: “No manslayer has everlasting life remaining in him.”
Ex. 20:13: “You must not murder.”

2nd…Euthanasia? I’m sorry that the JW gave you grief…not knowing the WHOLE story, there are some imperfect decisions made…did she engage the Elders into the situation?
Probably not. Local Christian elders, being mature ministers, can also be of great value. Of course, the patient and his immediate family must make their own balanced decision in this very emotional situation. NOTICE THIS THOUGHT…

*** g91 10/22 p. 8 The Best Help Is Available! ***
What guidelines could the Christian apply in a situation where a loved one is in a terminal state?

First, we must acknowledge that each situation involving a terminal illness is different, tragically different, and there are no universal rules. Furthermore, the Christian should be careful to consider the laws of the land in such cases. (Matthew 22:21) Keep in mind, too, that no loving Christian would advocate medical neglect.

Only when there is undeniably terminal disease (where the situation has been clearly determined to be hopeless) should consideration be given to asking that life-support technology be discontinued. In such cases there is no Scriptural reason to insist on medical technology that would simply prolong a dying process that is far advanced.

These often are very difficult situations and may involve agonizing decisions. How is one to know, for example, when a situation is hopeless? Though no one can be absolutely certain, reason needs to be exercised along with careful counsel.

…Finally, reflect on these points. Christians very much want to stay alive so that they can enjoy serving God. They realize, though, that in the present system, all of us are dying; in*this sense all of us are terminally ill. It is only through the ransoming blood of Jesus Christ that we have any hope of reversing that situation.—Ephesians 1:7.

If death does come to a loved one, hard as this is, we are not left to agonize and grieve “just as the rest also do who have no hope.” (1Thessalonians 4:13) Rather, we can take comfort that we did the best we reasonably could for our sick loved one and that any medical assistance we employed was at best of temporary help. We do have, though, the happifying promise of the One who will free us from all such problems when ‘the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing.’—1Corinthians 15:26.

Yes, ultimately the best help for the dying will come from the God who gave life to the first humans and who promises a resurrection for those who exercise faith in him and in his Son, Jesus Christ.—John 3:16; 5:28,*29.

You should’ve asked her about the 26 “martyrs” that they allege sacraficed themselves for the JW cult…oh excuse me “faith”.
This has to do with their blood law. The 26 were children!
…,so they sacrificed themselves for the love and obedience to God, Compare Rev 2:10,

Do you love your wife (husband) enough that you would be willing to risk your life for her (him)? ... There are also men who risk their lives for their country, and they are viewed as heroes, aren’t they?Compare (Luke 4:5-8; 1 John 5:19 and the future REV 19:17-18)

But there is someone who is greater than any person or thing here on earth, and that is God. Would you risk your life because of love for him and loyalty to his rulership?’ (2)*‘The issue here really is loyalty to God. It is God’s Word that tells us to abstain from blood. (Acts 15:28, 29)’ ) (Leviticus 17:10-11)…really, suppose it said to “abstain from alcohol”

would there be any reason to take it into your body?

Well, it’s possible this girl was not a good JW. I’ll take your “official” word for the abortion position, though I have been told it is a matter of conscience. There are loopholes. Maybe you have your cafeteria JW’s too.

In any case, I have had patients die because they needed blood transfusions and pheresis
(certain blood products). That could be construed as heroic, and I’m sure will be counted as such by the Lord. The reasoning is just so illogical.

I read about one JW who came down with polio in a foreign country b/c the church screwed up and forgot the vaccine. He was then abandoned b/c he was beginning to doubt the teachings. The Baptists bailed him out. Otherwise he would have died. That’s what he got for all his labors for the “church”.

I find such behavior odious, and I am not blaming individual JW’s because this was obviouisly a corprorate thing, and the brass is always corrupt, but, how could anyone belong to a religious system that is so… vindictive. I don’t care what the reasoning is, humanity trumps desertion. It is unthinkable.

I don’t expect you to respond to an individual situation like that. Lord knows, the hierarchy has made plenty of mistakes in the Church as well. But, teaching for teaching, the JW position is a hijacking of origional doctrines. I choose the “blind faith” you put in these watchtower people in the apostles who lived and died with Christ. They “walked the walk,” not just talk the talk, so to speak.

i agree 100%…HOWEVER…notice

In the year 1915, Pope Benedict XV launched an appeal to the nations to put an end to the “horrendous slaughter” of the first world war. He prayed to God for “the cessation of the wicked scourge.” But neither the national leaders nor their people listened. And, logically, God did not listen because the combatants on both sides were made up of members of the same religion. Thus, Catholic killed Catholic, and Protestant killed Protestant, Morman killed Morman completely contrary to God’s commandments.

In the spring of 1939, when the storm clouds of the second world war were gathering, As you stated…Pius XII organized “a crusade of public prayers for peace.” The following August, just before the war broke out, he launched an appeal to national leaders and their people to desist from “the accusations, the threats, the causes for mutual distrust” so as to avoid the worst.

But all those prayers and appeals did not halt the war machine of Catholic and Protestant Germany; nor did they indicate the way to peace for Catholic Italy or for Shintoist Japan. And no excommunication was threatened against members of any religion for killing others of the same religion. So the slaughter of brother by brother went on for six years, backed by the clergy of every nation.

In response to the pope’s appeal at Assisi, in some places fighting halted on October 27, 1986. But in other countries it continued. In many instances this was in lands the religion of which was represented at Assisi. For example, the Catholic guerrilla fighters of the IRA launched a bomb attack in Ireland. The Sikhs fought in India. In Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Iran, and Iraq, as well as other areas, the bloodshed also continued. And even where the truce was observed for that one day, death and terror were sown again the very next day. A strange peace indeed!

Could “the God of peace” bless such initiatives that indirectly approve of those who today stop killing only to begin again tomorrow? Did God approve of Cain after he killed Abel? Surely not!—Hebrews 13:20.

Now, Jehovah’s Witnesses obeyed their Governing Body all over the world and refused to fight and kill their own brothers. They were beheaded or tortured by the hundreds. (Rev 2:10)

What would have happened if, like the JWs-- ALL the religious leaders would have ALL told their parishioners NOT to go to war? Would there still have been a war??

What do you mean? What may I ask original doctrines?
