This is one of their lesser known doctrines.

Other weird doctrines that the JW missionary has told me is that the UN is the Beast in Revelation, and Adam will never be resurrected.

So umm ya, pass this around the internet. The more people know about the JWs, the less people will like them.

What is their basis for this belief? Sounds like heresy to me.

You can still like JWs as PEOPLE and totally disagree with their beliefs. The best thing to do is to keep debating them on their beliefs and highlight the dishonesty and contradictions that JWs have in their own (highly edited) Bible. We are called upon to evangelize and defend our faith, and JWs are perfect people for that.👍

Half the fundamentalist protestants I know of think either the UN or the EU is the Beast, so that belief is not exclusive to JWs.

The Adam belief might be, though. 🙂

I was referring to the belief that Jesus was Michael the Archangel. I don’t get into identifying who is or was the Beast or anti-Christ.

My MIL is a JW, and what she has told me is in Revelations it says “Michael and his angels battled with the dragon . . . and its angels.” (Revelation 12:7) Thus, Michael is the Leader of an army of faithful angels. Revelation also describes Jesus as the Leader of an army of faithful angels. (Revelation 19:14-16) And the apostle Paul specifically mentions “the Lord Jesus” and “his powerful angels.” (2 Thessalonians 1:7; Matthew 16:27; 24:31; 1 Peter 3:22) So the Bible speaks of both Michael and “his angels” and Jesus and “his angels.” (Matthew 13:41) and God wouldn’t have two armies so or two generals so they must be the same person. Also because Michael is referred to as the Archangel which suggests that there is only one archangel and in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 states: “The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice.” The voice of Jesus is described as being that of an archangel. This scripture therefore suggests that Jesus himself is the archangel Michael.

When my mother in law asked why I thought Jesus wasn’t Michael all I could say because he is not! She is going to be living with us for awhile and I am hoping I get better at defending my faith and that she does not influence my young children so please pray from my acceptance of her as a person and pray that she respects my faith (sorry for going off topic)

Oh by the way I used their bible for the quotes of the scriptures above because the person asked what they based that belief on I do not know if those are ones that were changed.

Thanks

Jesus is Michael, but not created, for HE IS the I AM, the uncreated Creator, GOD the SON.

Actually, its one of their ever changing doctrines. Stay tuned! This “doctrine” of their’s may change again when some new prophet takes the helm in Brooklyn and makes another “update” of their ever changing belief system.

Pure madness! Tell her to read the Hebrews Chapter one.

For to which of the angels did God ever say,
You are my Son;
today I have become your Father”

Or again,

“I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son”

6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,

“Let all God’s angels worship him.”

Ask her to explain why would God allow angels to worship another angel when it is forbidden for creatures to worship creatures?

:whacky: I always ask them if Jesus is the angel Michael and is only a creature, then how is it possible he (Michael the archangel) redeemed humanity on the cross?

A few might think Obama is the beast after attending tea party rallies LOL 😃

The irony in this is that the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society (JW’s) were an NGO (Non Governenemnt Organization) of the UN for almost 10 years until the Guardian newspaper in the UK ran a story exposing the WTBS’s membership. 2 days after the story went public, they withdrew their membership.
