Wow, ok, the reason I ask is this…
Our Prime Minister is introducing a written test for all immigrants wanting to move to Australia.
It is supposedly going to consist of questions about Australia’s heritage, the English language, and our values.
Some opponents to it are saying it is our Government’s way of screening for radical Muslims.
Our Prime Minister has said he wants the test to instil in all people wanting to live here the value of Aussie mateship, and how Aussies are so good at all pulling together when needed.
It seems as if JWs then would fail if this is how our Prime Minister wants Australians to act.
JWs wont sing our anthem, stand for it, fight in defense of our country, or support us.
Seems we need to rid Australia of JWs first then work on this new immigration test.

well i wouldn’t rid a country of them just because they wont salute a flag or serve their country, or sing the national anthem. but simply pray for them and help them to see the truth. that is all once can do for them.

Marilena - I think that I read in some of your previous posts that your husband wasn’t originally from Canada. Was he a JW at the time or am I way off on my thinking?

They tell the court that it is against their religion to take an oath and so I believe the federal courts waive this requirement for JWs who want US citizenship.

i guess it doesn’t surprise me that the US courts allow that - but it kind of waters down what the meaning of citizenship is

No. My husband was an evolutionist his entire life. your way off. He is German-Canadian. He was raised in socialist Germany. So no, jw is definitely not him, never has been.

I support their right to refrain from taking any government sanctioned oaths due to their religious beliefs.
Someday the government may ask ME to take an oath that goes against MY religious beliefs.
