JW's came to my door today....

Unlike America, we hardly ever have any religious denoms come to our houses, but i did today…
Two men came to the front door, wearing white shirts and holding books, didnt see the books at first, then they said they were part of an ‘organization’, then i saw the watchtower mags… then the light went off in my head as to what ‘organization’ they represent!
They said they wanted to talk about God, i said oh good, im Catholic, lets talk about it, they then said thank you for your time and couldnt get away fast enough… I dont know if they have come across Catholics before that know their stuff, or if they didnt want to spend the time talking about the differences, but anyway, it was a good way to get rid of them! lol
I thought they would have liked a bit of a challenge, but it wasnt to be, oh well, next time!
Was a good start to the morning!

JW’s come in all levels of experience. Proactively approaching a stranger with the purpose of obeying Jesus’ command to preach about God’s Kingdom can be very frightening to many. Try it sometime and you’ll see the reaction you get.

Typically, a JW is looking for specific signals if the householder is interested in talking or not… and doesn’t want to overstay the visit.

Many people have their own problems to deal with before they get in other people’s faces. Paul condemned those who were not busy and yet acting like busybodies. Many people have other things to do, they have their own sins to deal with.

Street preaching CAN be in your face but most times people ignore you, I have yet to see anyone I know go up and actually yell in someones face.
There will be millions more in hell if everyone adopts your view

How is spreading the gospel obnoxious? I absolutely think that Christians who do not spread the gospel are hypocrites.

How can we judge the sins of others (which we do when we tell people to repent) when we are ourselves so sinful? You have admitted that people ignore street preachers. Besides that, many people think of door-to-door missionaries as a nuisance. In the words of St. Francis of Assisi, “Preach the Gospel always. If necessary, use words.” We are preaching the Gospel, in our own way. A hypocrite is someone who, literally, is beneath his own criteria. How many people will you bring to Christ by shouting on the street corners if, when you step down from your crate, you walk right past a person begging for change?

Secondly, if people try to spread the gospel before they know exactly what it is, they may fall guilty of leading people to hell rather than to heaven, who would want to be guilty of that??

Think of those who left Jesus because of the “hard teaching” about the bread and wine BEING His body and His blood.

No symbolically. Really.

Jesus preached it and the Bible records many of his disciples leaving because of it.

Sounds familiar today, doncha think?

I do preach about God and his teachings, constantly, its great to do, i love telling people about the Catholic church and how great and true it is.

We are all sinners. Yes most people ignore street preachers but certainly I know many people who lead many to Christ.
FYI, I am not a street preacher, I am a come up and lead you to Christ person
Of course they think they are a nuisance but tell that to the people who are not in hell because of it…

I agree with the first statement but the second is the most effective I have found.
As far as the second excuse, accepting the gospel of Christ and baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost leads no one to hell. Unless you are denying the truth of the Bible…
Just admit you guys are too scared and lazy to actually spread the gospel

You have to understand I was an atheist headed straight to a real hell until about 38 months ago…i knew hundreds of Christians who never bothered to witness the truth of the gospel…so I have issues about this !

…and that reconciles with accusing the other poster of “making things up” that aren’t in the bible, …how?

If you have not already done so, please at least become educated in the Catholic faith. Then, not only will you see that Catholics do not make things up, but also if you decide that you disagree with what Catholics believe, you will at least be disagreeing with what Catholics TRULY believe, not what you incorrectly THINK Catholics believe.

I am glad you are no longer an athiest. But instead of chastizing those whom you think should have witnessed to you and didn’t, consider that maybe they need a little help too. Show them your kindness and love, and they will grow. Continue to berate them and they will turn away. IMO.

Sorry to throw this thread off topic. Maybe I should start another thread.
