My daughter is a senior in high school and wishes to attend her school’s “Kairos Retreat.” Normally I would have no problem letting her go, but this last year has been very hard for her, she’s been hospitalized for severe depression twice over the last year. I contacted the school’s office about what goes on at the retreat and all they would tell me is that I had nothing to be worried about and that it was a great opportunity for her to grow as a person. My daughter’s psychiatrist would like a plan of what goes on at a Kairos Retreat before she will give the “okay” for her to go. Though my daughter is stable now, it is just a precaution. I understand the whole process is secretive, so if someone would PM me that would be outstanding. I really would like for her to participate in this as it is a huge part of most of the kids’ senior year at her school.

Thanks and God bless!

I would say no way. Nothing is that secretive! What she says and does there might be, but the agenda itself should not be!

Just my humble opinion.

Does the school understand why you’re asking? Because her health care provider needs to know?

If they can’t or won’t tell you, you and her doc have a decision to make.

What KCT said.👍 If they can’t say, and can’t provide her therapist with an outline, and throw psychobabble at you, I’d say you have your answer.

Sounds fluffy at best and heretical at worst… " it focuses mostly on helping one find his or her “personal theology”, "

Ask your Priest for his opinion.
Take anything Wikipedia says with a large grain of salt. 😉 The theology one gets at a retreat like Kairos really depends a lot on the people running it.

Lisa, for your specific concerns I’ll send you a PM.
