A positive step, but a compromise nonetheless.
Opponents of the bill dispute the fetal pain claim. They say there is conflicting evidence on whether a fetus can feel pain at that stage of development.
Interesting how they recognize that there is conflicting evidence yet they would rather error on the side of the fetus feeling pain than the side of greater restrictions.

It amazes me that in America, a country that touts its protection of unalienable rights, the fetus is guilty until proven innocent.

It really wasn’t that long ago that people thought that babies felt no pain. Lecturers of mine and older nurses have told me stories of operations performed on babies, and that doctors et al just thought the screaming and crying were normal reflexes or that they were hungry - not really a sign that being cut open was painful!

All this abortion legislation business is farcical. The Church has said its morally wrong to interfere with life.Since life is the comming together of two cells what’s the point?Anybody who denies that a sperm and egg produce life are not thinking rationally.

Interesting point. If you ask a scientist how life started on Earth. The answer usually includes amino acids coming together and things happening at the molecular level because of elements being attracted in such a way to each other. Cells being formed.

So wait. That’s how life started, but somehow it’s different when the exact same thing happens inside the womb? 🤷

But “life” isn’t the point as the Church has no objection to you murdering as many mung bean sprouts as you like in your salad. The issue is “humaness” as in: when is human life a human being, with a soul?

The Church answer is: no one knows, so we must err on the side of greatest caution.

Ensoulment is a ridiculous argument and one that Nancy Pelosi uses to justify abortion on demand. Her soul is surrounded by the rock solid embankment of her voting caucus.
