Topeka, KS (LifeNews.com) – Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is getting flack from a pro-life group for supposedly holding a secret party at the governor’s mansion with an infamous late-term abortion practitioner. Sebelius reportedly invited George Tiller and his abortion center staff for a party at Cedar Crest, the governor’s mansion.

“According to our source, who attended the event at Cedar Crest, the party was ‘by special invitation only.’ It was obvious to this person that Tiller was on a very friendly basis with Sebelius and took the time to personally introduce each member of his abortion clinic staff to the governor,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “Our source was very specific that the event’s purpose was to ‘honor’ Tiller and his staff. The pictures, especially the ones that include the political t-shirts produced by Tiller, back up our source’s claims

I don’t understand how anybody could throw a party to honor baby killers! I wish I had a ticket to this event so I could have told Tiller and his staff how I felt about what they do however. It is espcially disturbing that tax payers had to pay for this party.

What is it about Catholic Governor’s:confused:

The Roman Catholic Archbishop for the Northeast Kansas, Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, has asked Sebelius to stop taking Communion until she disavows her support of abortion.

Colorado- Bill Ritter: As Governor, Ritter has pledged that overturning abortion laws would not be part of his agenda, and has stated that he would veto any bill prohibiting abortion that did not provide for an exception for rape, incest or fetal anomalies.[4] Ritter has further stated that he would restore state funding to Planned Parenthood for family planning and would reverse the veto of a bill that would have allowed pharmacists to dispense the emergency contraception known as the morning-after pill.

New Mexico- New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson said that if he was elected president he would require all of his US Supreme Court nominees to uphold the Roe v. Wade abortion decision.

You can add Oregon’s governor Ted Kulongoski to the Pro-Abortion “Catholic” list. He receives communion whenevr e attends a Mass … 😦

It is a public scandal … if they were anonymous divorced / remarried catholics they would be prevented from receiving …

In fact, when the issue arose around the Kerry campaign - a priest in our diocese was quoted in the Oregonian saying that it would not be appropriate to withhold communion if the person presented themselves … and yet I knew that this very same priest refused communion to a person who presented themselves at a private Mass [master’s degree pastoral ministry program mass held during our formation] … this person was not causing a public scandal and they regularly received communion at their spouse’s parish …

What I learned … if famous or a politician you can publicly support the killing of unborn, homosexual marriage, etc. you can receive communion while your picture is published in the local paper …👍

if you are a lapsed catholic [attending an episcopal church every other week and a catholic church on the other weeks] you cannot receive communion - even if it is in a small intimate group of people … where there is no one to know or see or publish your picture …

Maybe it has something to do witht he priest also being in the picture …

It’s pathetic really. I live in Topeka, KS and have heard about this on the news. I haven’t, personally, seen the sacrament refused to anyone. It makes me wonder. In fact, I haven’t heard anything in my parish about those who shouldn’t receive communion. 🤷

And Michigan’s Jennifer Granholm too.

The Democratically controlled House just passed a Partial Birth Abortion bill that mirrors the one approved by the US Supreme Court.

Our “Catholic” Governess has vowed to veto it (her own party’s bill)

There is one interesting twist on the Sebelius situation. There are a lot of feminists who will be very upset that Clinton (apparently) won’t get the nomination for president so the selection of a woman for the vice-presidential position could be a way for Obama to lessen the sting and recover some of those disaffected voters.

That Sebelius is a Catholic could also be seen as a plus as Obama has a problem attracting that constituency as well. The problem is, however, that Archbishop Naumann has publicly told her not to receive communion because of her position on abortion and I’m guessing that Obama doesn’t need a Catholic who brings along that particular piece of baggage.

It may be a tiny silver lining but it’s there nonetheless.

The problem is that if one is a Democrat and has national political aspirations they have to support abortion on demand. The dead children are collateral damage in their quest for power. What is sad is only Sebelus has been censured by her Bishop.

Kulongowski’s actions are shameful.

I love Oregon, but the so many of the people here are weird, and try to be even more weird when their weirdness becomes normal. They have turned this beautiful place practically into a communist state.

To me, Catholic who throws a party for the entire staff of an abortion clinic should be excommunicated. Honoring abortionists isn’t something a Catholic does. And the abortionists at that party were among the worst, Tiller and Carhart.

I know the church doesn’t want to take heat from the IRS, but at some point it becomes very hypocritical to call abortion evil and not at all punish elected members of the church who support abortion to this extent.

Why would the Church have to take any heat from the IRS for simply upholding her own regulations regarding the reception of Holy Communion? The IRS has nothing to say about who may or may not receive communion in a Catholic Church.

And I have never heard in all my life any priest in any Catholic Church engage in electioneering or even naming any candidates from the pulpit.

I think rather that the problem is that the Church needs to consistently proclaim the conditions for receiving holy communion.

If it was up to me, the various diocese in the U.S. would give up their tax exempt status and tell it like it is.

I don’t blame her as much as the morons who vote for her. And they’ll do it again…Roanoker

I blame her and the Catholics that vote for her because they should know better. If she wants to remain in a position of authority in politics and maintain such a devisive position then she should have the integrity to formally leave the faith.

I imagine if this shameful behavior does continu, that the Govenor could find herself under Interdict or possibly face excommunication. I earnestly pray for a change in her heart. May God have mercy on them.

What Sebelius did isn’ t very different what John Kerry and Ted Kennedy do when they do to NARAL events actually. It amazes me how people who call them selves Catholic can honor abortionists.

And I don’t believe the Church is doing these people a favor by not taking action against them. I wouldn’t want to have to go before my creator and explain why I honored somebody like Tiller or NARAL.
