I love Kat Von D makeup, it’s affordable and preforms well. I am concerned about the names she gives her products — for example Santa Sangre, lolita, and Rosary Ifind them a little odd. I know she is goth and likes sacred art aND she was raised protesant and no longer follows her faith. I believes she describes herself as Spiritual and pulls fron many faiths. Anywho, I’m not interested very much in her personal choices as long as she is not following Satan. Recently on instagram she allowed an artist to post the above pic…using her makeup a crucifix with jesus on it between 2 lips. I don’t want to sin by participating in material cooperation, that image made me so mad I took her off my instagram. What to do? I still just like her contour palette.

I like her products too and I have the same problem. I don’t know why ‘gothic’ people like catholicism but I don’t feel comfortable with it. If it was another religion, you know sjws will say something…if the owner is not a Muslim of course. Edgy names/brands only interest me for a short while.

I don’t know if I would buy her stuff anymore. I tend to boycott brands that make me feel weird. Benefit, for example, has a poor shade collection (they don’t seem to try to make darker shades) and their sexualised marketing for their mascara makes me roll my eyes.

But I don’t know if a simply boycott makes a difference. I feel like a bunch of us need to say something/be vocal

You can finish up the products you have but you could probably start looking for alternatives?

As someone who knew a lot of goths, I can explain why they have a bit of a fascination with Catholicism; the aesthetic. I mean, we love black, lighting things with candles, and our Cathedrals are beautiful… And foreboding. Our religious chanting tends to have a very somber, haunting sound to it… And we even have a few chapels made with human bone.

I tried to edit my post to make it general (Hinduism etc) but I ended up quoting it instead :’)

Catholicism is aesthetically pleasing, I agree with that
