Many have heard of her from her rants printed in papers and poetry volumes. I don’t need to go into discussion of her ideology; it’s quite well-known over the past thirty years who she is and and her (lack of) beliefs.

Today, the Chicago Tribune published a very emotional op-ed from Ms. Pollitt:

Thought I’d bring this to the attention of the forum.
She is what she is.
She makes it very clear every time she gives her opinion…

Although I hate to use this cliche, everyone is entitled to their opinion-is the only thing I can say that doesn’t include nasty thoughts or language.

I like how these editorials always begin with something credible (i.e. the horrific nature of covering up abuse) and then use that as a springboard to attack every single aspect of the Church’s moral teaching (abortion, contraception, homosexuality, marriage, celibacy).

It becomes plain that this abuse scandal is little more than an excuse to rant about the parts of Catholicism that authors like this dislike.

Of course, if these abuse cases had been handled properly and firmly in the first place, things would be better all around. But that’s another argument.

Exactly. I won’t shy away from well-researched and educated argument. Pollitt’s a gossiping school girl that jumped on the media bandwagon. Since when did she start caring enough to write about an institution she does not follow or respect?
