The Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, MO has been rocked by a child porn scandal with a priest from this parish, St. Patrick’s, having been caught with nasty pics on his computer. The priest, Fr. Ratigan, threatened to commit suicide, and presumably this softened the gentle bishop’s heart and he violated strict protocols already in place. Bishop Finn put him in a Vincentian Father’s house on acreage in nearby Independence, MO after others affiliated with the police department reviewed only some of the photos and judged them legal. This was, at day’s end, probably a control freak suicide threat, not a sorrowful sinner suicide threat, so may we all beware playing amateur shrink and getting manipulated by sociopaths, priests or not. May God have mercy on Fr. Ratigan’s soul and heal all his pic victims and heal all scandalized by this “fun” priest who owned a tricked out three-wheeled Harley.
Fr. Ratigan violated the terms of his stay with the Vincentians and continued to associate with minors. So months later, and after a more thorough review of the photos he took, he was finally arrested. Bishop Robert Finn was later sentenced for his role in the matter. People have melted away from church attendance. May I beg your prayers for the efficacy of this Rosary Procession from the Divine Mercy Shrine to St. Patrick’s? I cannot attend! Pray this will be imputed to me and all others who cannot attend and may we all devoutly pray the Rosary for peace as Our Lady counseled at Fatima. Blessings! And may God make the Kansas City metro area, developed by pioneer priest and great Hibernian Fr. Donnelly, the singular and exceptional “salt and light” for the world, please God. Thanks for all your prayers for me and my intentions and may God lavishly bless all prayer warriors!
