Keep it short: What was the reason for the Reformation?

It’s a loaded question though. Many people will give you what they were taught. Most is inaccurate, either in object or in context (application). I personally like Hillaire Belloc’s book on it titled “How the Reformation Happened”. You could read the descriptions on a few pages like amazon. Give the summaries a look and if they seem interesting, I highly recommend buying it.
 
Pride - “I will not obey/serve” - the original sin of both the rebellious angels and our first parents.
 
Whatever it was,hope these people are able to look at the mess they left behind when they broke Jesus’ command to be one. How wonderful it’d have been if they heeded Jesus’ words.

Stated, if I might paraphrase, by both Henry VIII and M. Luther as “I DEMAND the attention of Rome and its deference to my desires RIGHT NOW.” Rome said no to both. Both said bye to Rome. What a pity for those men - and their followers.
 
Luther disagreed with popular practice of many Catholics in Germany. He brought these concerns up. Fourteen-odd were too “out there” for the Church to change for him(such as the faith alone issue), eventually Luther got excommunicated as a heretic for refusing to stop teaching his beliefs, and so he started his own church.
 
The Reformation occurred because eventually, all children rebel.
 
Amongst other things, the Black Death in the 14th century shattered all sorts of allegiances, economic relationships and belief structures.

Despite (or because of) their personal preferences, the “reformers/rebel” called Jesus a liar by insisting that His eternal promise ‘to keep His Church from falling into evil’ was untrue.

It seems that by leaving the Church they cleansed it of their lie.
 
In the simpliest terms:

A very misguided man (Luther) trying to fix something, messed it up and than it was to far gone to repair…
Example: a plumber trying to fix your electric;)
 
A lack of humility…Rejection of Christian Truths….Sin…

Ego…Ego…Ego

Ego-Ego-Ego is why it still continues today;)

No Protestant wants to admit that maybe Luther was wrong and that he went to far.
 
I think that even if someone had different interpretations, he should not start another church. Even among the church there are differing school of thoughts and this enriches the church but it does not mean that everyone will establish a church! when we start new churches, we end up having what we have now.

Not a good book if you actually want to correct inaccuracies instead of compounding them!
