Voice Of the Faithful’s official moniker “Keep the Faith, Change the Church” has to be the most self contradictory statement I have ever heard.

See it here votf.org/

How can someone keep as well as change two things that are essentially one? To me it defies all logic. But as with all dissent, contradiction is the rule of the day.

Reading a recent press release by VOTF concerning the recent Instruction on Homosexuals and the Priesthood underlined by opinions of VOTF.

I had the misfortune of attending a talk about reaching out to “disaffected” Catholics. It turned out to be a VOTF event and focused on how the Church needs to change its “outdated” morality since V2 opened up morality to our conscience and we choose what is right ourselves, etc. I left mumbling “heretic” under my breath.

This organization does not strike me as one that truly love the Church. Rather they are “Catholics” who want the Church in their image, not in the image of Christ and the Magisterium.

What is VOTF?

What is VOTF?
VOTF = Voice of the Faithful, whom could hardly be considered faithful. They are a liberal dissenting organization which wants to change the teachings of the Church and to remake it in their own image.

You have no idea how happy I am to have found this wonderful message board, and your post. Recently I was very rudely “sounded down” and insulted by several people on a Catholic website. Those who insulted and humiliated me were members of VOTF. I had been trying to defend our Holy Church, and they called me ignorant, uneducated, and many other names. What really got to me was the priest/moderator said absolutely nothing to stop them. They truly are not Catholic, in my opinion. I feel they are a very real danger to many people who are having questions concerning Church doctrine. 😦

It is truly like a breath of fresh air to find Catholics who are devout and uphold the doctrine, holy scripture, the Holy Father, and the Magisterium. This group denies all of them, and believes they are to look only to their conscience for guidance in all things related to the Church. I could go on and on, but I think I have said enough for now.

Bless you All, and Merry Christmas 🙂

How about keep the Church, change VOTF?

WOW - Are you sure it’s REALLY a Catholic site?
Oh yes, it is a Catholic site. This incident occurred on one forum on the message board. There is a wonderful, devouted priest on one of the other forums. However, the priest on the forum which is occupied by members of VOTF doesn’t even go by the title Father or Fr., but only by his first name. He said he didn’t feel it was important to use Father in front of his name (when someone asked him.) The VOTF are also wandering around some of the other forums on the message board too, and are quite convincing to some of the new members. I think it is very sad. And I feel terrible for the devout priest. He told me once that “no one ever said it would be fun defending Jesus’ teachings.”

Fix, I like your idea concerning the “change” in the title of VOTF! 😃

If they had kept to their “stated” original purpose, which was to be a watchdog on the bishops, especially as regards wrongdoing by memebers of the clergy. If the ‘change’ they were for was limited to rooting out the kind of clericalism condemned by Vatican II, then it would be an A-OK slogan.

Sadly, the group seems more interested in rationalizing sin and all-around lukewarmness in the faith.

Can you post some links? I think it might be time for some of us to go over there to defend the Church and the Faith!!

Yes. I can supply a link. Please keep in mind that there are many very good posts on the site also, but I doubt you’ll have any problem spotting our “dissidents”. Thanks for helping defend the faith and our Holy Mother Church. (I was really beginning to think I was alone in this effort.) :blessyou:

You stated the obvious absurdity of VOTF’s mission. This group seems to be quickly becoming irrelevant even in my state of Massachusetts.

They are always the first to bring up the scandals but they use that to hide their agenda. Look at the people they always invite to speak at their meetings. I openly challenge them when they rear their heads near my parish.

Exactly! They play on the scandals (which, of course were very sinful) and use them to “get their foot in the door.” But their real intentions are quite devious, and that is to convince the Church to allow homosexual marriages, contraception, abortion in certain instances, women receiving Holy Orders, and just about anything else that they feel “should be allowed according to their well formed consciences.” There would be no end to how they would “change the Church.” I strongly believe we should be very pro-active AGAINST these heretics. Their ways are certainly not what our Lord and Savior had in mind when He established His Church 2000 years ago. We need to pray that they will be exposed for what they really are, and that they will not succeed in causing many Catholics to lose their beliefs and faith in the Holy Catholic Church! :gopray2:
