I think I read about some coin medallions that people usually place all around the house to keep them protected from bad spirits. I don’t know what saint or prayer they have, does anyone know what I’m talking about? Should they be blessed as well?

Thanks for that site!

I have the St. Benedict medal everywhere…including my barn!
I use blessed salts, oils, holy water!
We had a wonderful oPream (sp.?) priest that used the ancient exorcism on the blessed salts and water…it is very comforting to know that Our Mother provides such powerful weapons to help combat the evil spirits…the Sacraments being the forefront on this battle ground!
It is a great humiliation for the ole’ boy to have to obey the common elements that have been blessed.
WOW…what the power of a priest must be!

I was thinking about purchasing some from the monestary in Schyler, NE. Do you think that they would bless them for me?

Thanks,

I believe that all priests were given -uh…I can’t remember the word…power…no…authority…no…oh! faculty to bless St. Benedict medals…so if there are no priest to bless them there your parish priest can.

The most powerful Sacramental in the world is the Crucifix.

I don’t discredit any miraculous medals by what I say; they all have merit.

The Cross of Christ is most powerful.

I think if I was you seeking protection and you must be seeking it for some reason, I would have my home blessed by a Priest and in every room of that home I would hang a Crucifix.

If it is that you feel spiritual attack I would keep Holy Water in the home and Bless myself using the Sign of the Cross and Bless the room I am in using the Sign of the Cross.

Make sure you have Holy Water in a font by your beside and a Crucifix in the room in which you sleep.

Mya God grant you His peace and faith in the power of His Cross.🙂

Are you experiencing some form of attack that concerns you?

When I asked my parish priest, he said that the St. Benedict medal required a SPECIAL blessing and he did not have the text readily available to him. He gave it a GENERAL blessing but said that I should have it re-blessed with the proper format.

That special blessing comes with most St. Benedict medals in the form of a little pamphlet.

Is there a reason why you are so concerned with repelling evil spirits in your home?

I have a blessed cross or blessed framed holy picture on every exterior wall of the house in every room.

Here is the blessing for you to give to your priest.
or any priest that will bless it for you.

V. Our help is in the name of the Lord.
R. Who made heaven and earth.

In the name of God the Father + almighty, who made heaven and earth, the seas and all that is in them, I exorcise these medals against the power and attacks of the evil one. May all who use these medals devoutly be blessed with health of soul and body. In the name of the Father + almighty, of the Son + Jesus Christ our Lord, and of the Holy + Spirit the Paraclete, and in the love of the same Lord Jesus Christ who will come on the last day to judge the living and the dead, and the world by fire.

Amen.

Let us pray. Almighty God, the boundless source of all good things, we humbly ask that, through the intercession of Saint Benedict, you pour out your blessings + upon these medals. May those who use them devoutly and earnestly strive to perform good works be blessed by you with health of soul and body, the grace of a holy life, and remission of the temporal punishment due to sin.

May they also with the help of your merciful love, resist the temptation of the evil one and strive to exercise true charity and justice toward all, so that one day they may appear sinless and holy in your sight. This we ask though Christ our Lord.

Amen.

The medals are then sprinkled with holy water.

Thank you Father. I’ll print it and bring it with the medal to church this Sunday.

Since most priests I’ve ever encountered (when asked to bless something) go ahead with the 5 second blessing…
Where can you find blessings for religious articles, wate/salt/oils according to the way it should be done?
I know there’s an ancient rite for holy water.
I printed out a blessing for a Rosary which i keep in my wallet that i had to dig a bit through the internet to find which was I believe from before Vatican II.
Anyway, where can we find these blessings all in one place?
“Hey Father will you bless this with this prayer?” is what I would plan on doing. But everything I’ve ever had blessed was more of a made up prayer then the blessing then holy water.
Is this sufficient? Fr Corey I’m sure you’d know better than most.

God Bless

Holy water is normally blessed on the Eve of Easter durng the service of light with the entire church in attendence and enough is usually made to last the entire year.

Is there a reason why you are so concerned with repelling evil spirits in your home?
Yes!
Because our battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers (fallen angels otherwise know as demons).
Satan goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may to devour…
Holy Mother Church has given these sacramentals to us to use…not just read about 👍 Sacramentals extend the sacraments into daily life.
I take my spiritual life seriously and I know that I must run the race so as to win."
I will take all the help I can get…no, it is not like coupon clipping:D
Check out the quote below:)
Code:
"**The sacramentals are significant acts variously related to the sacraments. **For example, blessing oneself with holy water recalls one's baptism, while using it in blessing other things extends baptism, as it were, to objects which in various ways extend one's body. While not essential to divine worship, the sacramentals are practices of the Church which are effective by her prayer. Central to all is the intercession of the Church, and some simply are prayers which the Church provides for particular benefits. Of these, some are incorporated in the rites of the sacraments, while others stand apart from the sacraments.

Any prayer or blessing offered by the Church responsive to some need of an individual, family, or other group should be sought and used. **In this way, private devotion is more clearly and fruitfully linked with God's saving work in Jesus.**

Ah yes they were the St. benedict medals, how could I forget?

I have a question, probably dumb, about what Sir knight mentioned,

On the Easter Vigil, when our priest was baptizing, I was wondering if the water had already been blessed and made into Holy Water? Or is it “regular” water used during these baptisms? I didn’t see the priest bless the water before he baptized, but perhaps he had already done it ahead of time.

I’m pretty sure the water for the baptism and in the fonts have been blessed by a Priest beforehand. At our Church, some of the fonts have blessed salt in them also. Tim

One of the most popular protections in India is the Enthronement of our homes to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Enthronement grew out of a promise made by Christ to Margaret Mary Alocoque: “I will bless every house in which an image of My Heart shall be exposed and honored.”

catholictradition.org/Two-Hearts/enthronement.htm

This site has a better layout and more information:

catholicculture.org/lit/Prayers/view.cfm?id=430

The Enthronement has a close link to the Sacred Heart Devotion in which Jesus made Twelve Promises to Saint Margaret Mary for those devoted to His Sacred Heart:

  1. *]I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
*]I will establish peace in their families.
*]I will console them in all their troubles.
*]They shall find in My Heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of their death.
*]I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings.
*]Sinners shall find in My Heart the source of an infinite ocean of mercy.
    *]Tepid souls shall become fervent.
*]Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great perfection.
*]I will bless the homes where an image of My Heart shall be exposed and honored.
*]I will give to priests the power of touching the most hardened hearts.
*]Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be effaced.
*]The all-powerful love of My Heart will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under my displeasure, nor without receiving their Sacraments; My heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour.
