Yeah you wouldn’t believe it from the news but the crime rate has been going down for a long time. There is a saying in journalism: “if it bleeds, it leads.” Weird stories, mayhem, chaos, violence these seem to sell, but it is not the story of most people’s lives who work hard, do their best in the face of hardship and suffering, pray, and take care of their families.

We need a good news only newspaper! 🙂

‘When the devil suggests discouraging thoughts, we must seek help in the remembrance of the blessings, without number, that we have received from God.’

St. Ignatius of Loyola

‘God is your business and language. Whoever wants to speak to you must learn this language; and if he doesn’t, be on your guard that you don’t learn his; it will be a hell.’

St. Teresa of Jesus

'Let joy in the Lord win and go on winning, until people take no more joy in the world. Let joy in the Lord always go on growing, and joy in the world always go on shrinking until it is reduced to nothing. I do not mean that we should not rejoice as long as we are in this world, but that even while we do find ourselves in this world, we should already be rejoicing in the Lord.

Someone may argue, “I am in the world; so obviously, if I rejoice, I rejoice where I am.” What of it? Because you are in the world, does it mean that you are not in the Lord? Listen to the same Apostle in the Acts of the Apostles, speaking to the Athenians, and saying about God and about the Lord, our Creator, In him we live, and move, and are. Since he is everywhere, there is nowhere that he is not. Is it not precisely this that he is emphasizing to encourage us? The Lord is very near; do not be anxious about anything.

St. Augustine

‘My soul, rejoice that you resemble Jesus a little in that you are hidden behind lowliness!’

St. Bernadette Soubirous

Lizaane,

:console: I just want to second what others have already said: Being grateful has been my secret to happiness. I’ve been through some truly awful times (as most of us have, at one time or another), times when I have forgotten to be grateful, and those were my darkest days. I find that when I frequently thank God for my blessings (and there are ALWAYS blessings, no matter how dark the day), I simply cannot remain miserable and in despair. It’s truly been one of the greatest gifts in my life—gratitude. And yes, there are days when I don’t FEEL it, but I still say it and pray it, and before I know it, I feel it again.

God bless.
I agree with you! Being grateful is the secret to happiness! 🙂

I would stay off of CAF. THis forum tends to depress me as most members seem either constantly annoyed and just downright angry.

For me it’s like looking at a car crash- you have to make yourself turn away.

I don’t mean to sound funny either. . . I can’t think of many times when I leave CAF with a brighter mood than when I logged in. 🤷

don’t let the news get you down. The media is so out of touch with the common man these days, they have officially lost their ability to relate to us. I don’t know if you know but a lot of news organizations in this country are in major financial trouble (they too are seeking a bailout, go figure). This is because they spend so much time campaigning against their audience (campaigning against christianity, against those who support the traditional family
etc.) The common man has had enough of paying their time and money to be criticized and ridiculed by some distant journalist.
Also the media is all about sales/ratings. They blow these events out of proportion. In a sense they are in the industry of depressing and shocking us with bad news. Life is still going on as usual for the common man.

I’m feeling SO MUCH better these past couple of days! 😃 Taking a break from reading the news and really concentrating on work as helped a ton. I have made a point to go out with friends a couple of times to break up the routine, and I have a doctor’s appointment next week to see about the horrible pain in my hip.

All is well - thank you all for your wonderful posts, and for taking the time.:kiss4you: God bless!!

Rejoice!

For you have been exceedingly blessed! In the sorrow, through the pain, in the darkness, glorify GOd, and bear true witness of His unending Love!

In situations such as yours is our faith show, evangilized to the world!

Trust in God’s providence, trustin His Love. Trust especially that all things work for the good of those who serve Him.

Of what merit it is it to be glad when times are good? Of what worth are smiles in times of plenty? Of laughter at a feast?

None!

So stand in defiance of Hell! Laugh at death! Smile in the face of adversity!
I agree with Whatevergirl! Thank you for this…It’s an inspiration and thank GOD for all the wonders and love He gives us!! 🙂

I get extremely desperate even if it’s for a moment or a minute, and I come here vent and everyone here shows such great support and comfort it makes me feel like an idiot and start praying because I know GOD is eternal and His love has always been…AND I need to get over my **** and keep on going… AND thanks to His Holiness I do…I get depressed easily well after everything falls through, lol, but I come here to the forum and people here are great blessings and they help me remember the greatest things in life and I REJOICE! And other times even though it may take me a while I will think a lot and hard and finally gather my senses and push on through…

I will keep you in my prayers, may GOD grant you the strength you need to over come these situations. May HE grant you peace, and harmony in your life as well as guide you and your loved ones through difficult times…

GOD bless…Hang in there and remember GOD loves you and everyone very much!

"In Him we will find the perfections of all creatures exalted and transfigured. In Him we will enjoy the beauty of all the seasons - the balmy freshness of spring, the rich beauty of summer, the luxurious abundance of autumn, and the calm repose of winter. In a word, all that can delight the senses and enrapture the soul will be ours in Heaven. In God our understandings will be filled with the plentitude of light; our wills with an abundance of peace; and our memories with the joys of eternity.

Why will you seek vain and sensual satisfactions from creatures when unalterable happiness may be yours? If your heart craves joy, raise it to the contemplation of that Good which contains in Itself all joys. If you are in love with this created life, consider the eternal life which awaits you above. If the beauty of creatures attracts you, live that you may one day possess the Source of all beauty…"
