I’m sorry, I thought we were talking about Isiah. To your point, of course Jeremiah 33:17 is messianic in nature.

Isaiah 22 is a Type for this same kingdom, but instead of talking about the King of the Kingdom, it is a Type for the Prime Minister of the Kingdom - the one in authority until the King Returns!

Epostle put quite a bit of scripture in it, such as Jer 33:17, that I have never heard a Catholic apologist claim in support of the papacy.

I am familiar with Isaiah 22 and your church’s position but haven’t really studied that verse out so I am afraid that I can’t lend a comment to it one way or the other.

“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

“And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David; he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.”

Thanks for your post but I had pulled one particular verse out of epostles post and that verse was Jeremiah 33:17. Sorry for the confusion.
