It was said that Jesus gave the “keys to Heaven” to Peter and warned, “what you loose upon Earth, so shall you loose in Heaven”.

My understanding of this topic might be divergent from Catholicism, so please note that I am not Catholic (yet).

Someone can construct various models of reality with each coherent to reality. This is similar to using a metric system of measurement versus the old English system. If a Church authority chooses one model or construct and documents that construct as “The Truth”, then “Heaven” becomes of that construct. Reality has not changed at all, merely the manner with which it is understood and dealt with.

If the proposed Truth is incoherent with reality, the construct is not “Holy” and thus does not belong in Heaven, as it would create conflict (and thus not be Heavenly). Thus when choosing which construct to teach, “loosen on Earth”, one must be careful to ensure the holiness of the construct, but there are still a variety to choose from.

Is the metric system used in Heaven or the old English system? The choice lies with those who have the “keys” to Heaven. God doesn’t particularly care as long as it conforms to reality and is self coherent as well.

Is this “coherent” with Catholicism? :o

If I can de-construct your question correctly, what you’re basically saying is (metaphorically speaking) if God gives us a certain length of stick, he doesn’t care if we use a yard stick or a meter stick to measure its length so long as we get the correct measurement, because the stick is the same length regardless. Is that the gist of it?

You got it. 😃

Note that God did not tell Ahdam what the names of the animals MUST be, but rather merely told Ahdam to come up with them. 🙂

Equally, God forms the “how it actually works” principles of the universe. I would think that God wouldn’t care what we named those principles or even how we ordered them as long as we did not name them ambiguously or order them to be in conceptual conflict.

We can say that "all things are formed from “Earth, water, wind, fire, and metal” if we want to, but we must ensure that such a mental construct truly fits “what is”, reality itself. If we do not conform to that, we limit ourselves and eventually cause a division between what is and our efforts - sin.

God said “do not eat of this tree”. He did not prevent it, merely advised against it as it would cause Man’s fall. Man was free to follow the “rules of survival” or not. Obviously Ahdam and Eve chose to make up their own rules as tempted by the “fruit”.

The temptation to invent a belief system is inherently strong and once developed is self-protecting (ego-centric). Thus once done, it becomes a semi-permanent condition.

Understanding such things makes repairing them (saving Man) much easier of a task because one can see what is causing the problem, see the “Original Sin” in action. And from that, see what to avoid continuing to do. And more importantly seeing what must be done in its place.
