I just started reading this book, and I think it will be an excellent step along the way in my faith journey.
In other news, I was able to share with my Dad that I am interested in Catholicism and talk with one of my roommates about my possible conversion. My Dad’s reaction was mixed, saying “Well, I certainly can’t relate to that.” My roommate’s reaction was also mixed: it turns out that he knows very little about Catholicism, though he doesn’t seem likely to condemn me. The other roommate, though, I am not so sure about. Earlier in the year he made a comment comparing the Catholic Church to the Latter Day Saints, saying that both are equally apostate (or at least apostate in the same way). I understand his reasoning, but I don’t agree with the conclusion. Another positive development: I received an email back from a priest with whom I might meet up to discuss the faith. He is of the eastern rite (Byzantine).
