hi, just recently started kickboxing, and a question has been on my mind about it. is it sinful? i know the church does’nt have an official stance on it, I’m refering to specifically kickboxing, it is allot less dangerous than traditional boxing due to less frequent blows to the head and with only 3-5 rounds as compared with 12 in boxing!

thanks and God bless 🙂

The Church does not teach that any martial art is sinful. There is no problem in learning kickboxing.

kickboxing might be a useful method for self-defense 🙂
but yeah i guess its like any other sport. Play by the rules so you stay as safe as possible and its fine.

From a lifelong student in various froms of karate to you, a kickboxer in training, I say,

“knock yourself out!”

(Of course it’s fine)

I’ve practiced kick-boxing all my life. The general view on kick-boxing is that all participers are agressive and have a desire to hurt others. I’m sure you have noticed that that is absolutely not the case. Your fellow atletes are friendlier and more real than anyone out there.

Besides, Kick-Boxing is not really an eastern material art in the sence that you practice budhism and meditation. Even if you would practice meditation it is often related to relaxation and focussing, nothing to do with invocing anciant spirits or what so ever.
