Greetings,

I have a four-year-old. I’m trying to teach him about Jesus and the Church a little bit and let him absorb the experiences of the Mass. However, I think it’s time to get some reading material that is both Catholic-friendly (no Protestant theology, please) and digestible for a young mind. I’d prefer something with pictures, because he seems to be a visual learner and loves comic books and things like that. Actually, a graphic novel type version of the Gospels would be most wonderful, as I could read to him while he looked at the pictures.

Can anyone here recommend something for me, please?

Thanks in advance. 🙂

Loyola Press has a flip book of the Mass. What happens when and what it looks like. It’s in their “adaptive materials” for austistic children, but I find it’s wonderful fro any preschooler! We give them out like crazy at our parish. Parents love them. It keeps the child engaged, and they soon are proud that they can follow without looking at the pictures!

This sounds perfect, as my son is an autistic preschooler. 😉

Thanks!

So, I’m a TV junkie … Thank GOD FOR EWTN!!! They have many good programs for this age. My childreen (3.8 & 2.6) love Animated Stories from the Bible (nestlearning.com/animated-bible_s1312.aspx?gclid=CM_47qXopcMCFQeKaQodnL0AKg) (ewtn.com/series/now_airing.asp?sat=DOME#)

They also love, The Friar: ewtn.com/tv/kids/theFriar.asp

We Are Catholic & My Catholic Family too.
Alas, we don’t have cable. Perhaps I’ll see if I can find some episodes on YouTube… Thank you.

Another thing we have done is have Daddy read the Bible (his favorite) and I record a video of him readin a paticular story (baptism of Jesus, temptation, ect). Then I created a DVD (along with other beloved childrens stories - tied to the Bible theme) and now the children have a homemade movie staring Daddy. We used Daddy because is is working so much, and I thought this was a great way to bring him Into our lives more …

Other books we recomend:

Easter Bunnies Amazing Day - Beniost & Gilmore
Little francis and the Leper - Julie Hanna

Good idea!

I’ll have a look at these titles, too. Thanks.
