very simple question, what are some good catholic bibles on the kindle I just got one today. Trying to find some good things to put on it. What’s better then the word of God :). Also do you know if they have missals on the kindle?
 
On my Kindle I have: The Ignatius Bible, The Ignatius Study Bible New Testament,The Ignatius Catholic Study Bible Exodus, the Gospel of Matthew, The Gospel of Mark, The latter two are part of the Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture series.

I use them all the time. I would also like to purchase the Navarre study bible but it isn’t available on Kindle.

I have most of the above in hard copies also.

do you know if they have missals on the kindle?

For an answer to that and other Kindle questions, go to Amazon, click on books and type in the search bar e.g. St Pauls Sunday Missal and see what comes up.
 
I love my Kindle and Amazon has a number of Catholic bible as well as classic Catholic books. One of the 1st book I download and for free was “Story of a Soul” I just downloaded St. thomas Aquinas “Summa theologica” for .99 cents. there are so many books that are classic and very inexpensive and there is so little time!
 
I jumped in and got some free books for my K-Fire.

What am I missing?

It’s so hard to navigate in the free Bible I downloaded. There are no page numbers. I just move around guessing where I might want to be.

Is this a problem with the Kindle, per se, or is it a built-in problem with the cheap book that I downloaded?

Also, I was reading dickens’ Oliver Twist. I had highlighted a lot of dickens’ clever writings and funny stories. Then, bing-bang, all my highlighting seems to have been erased. easy come, easy go.

also, I had a netgear wifi for downloading to the K-F. Then, I was warned to set the password protection. Great. Now, the k-f can’t access it. Have to go to McD’s or someplace for some free wifi, to pick up the books I bought tonight.
 
The Kindle (and probably all e-book readers) is best for reading a book straight through. It’s not as great for jumping around and trying to find specific locations in a large book.

Some Bibles have a direct verse jump feature which allows you to jump to a verse by typing in a few abbreviated book titles and chapter and verse numbers. Osnova has many Christian works and at least one Catholic Bible (DR) in this format.

The Kindle is also great for downloading lots of articles from the web and reading them later when you are away from the computer. I just convert them to plain text Unicode (UTF-8) documents and save them directly on my Kindle.

as far as finding places in a book, a searching feature might work best for that finding places in a big book.

but yeah kindle probably in the best thing for a research project. Your best bet is to go to a library and check out books or make copies.

but kindle is amazing for reading through books. with the exception of real dark places, you can read it anywhere and you can carry hundreds of books with you. I just got mine, was regifted a 2nd gen kindle. My book collection is slowly growing G.K. Chesterton has a lot of free books on kindle already downloaded a couple. Also found the complete LOTR for a cheep price I was in the middle of reading it for the first time, so I wanted a kindle copy to hopefully speed up my reading.

You can access the Navaree bible via e-mails sent to you in the morning through Google groups. I can provide how this is done if you are interested.

I use Ignatious Bible study via kindle and read daily Mass readings via Navaree (in e-mail). So it works pretty good. Can do it all at work!
