I bought a Kindle Fire last month when it was on sale for $39.99 and, for a really cheap tablet, it’s pretty impressive. No iPad but . . . forty bucks! (7 inches, 8 gb, It has “special offers” but they aren’t like commercials. Just something on the sleep screen. Not distracting at all.)

Anyone else using one?

Do you read e-books on it?
 
I got one over Christmas.

I don’t use it to read books. I just needed cheap access to the net for email and banking. I am very happy with it too. Especially for 35 bucks.

Sometimes I have to reboot it for youtube videos.
 
Yes I have one, I use it quite often, I have if loaded with numerous Church books, a bible early Church Father books etc.

I hate to shop, so when I take my wife, my Kindle is with me and I can study while my wife shops.
 
I have had one for a couple of years now and I love it. I have many ebooks on my Kindle Fire, and many of are unread. I subscribe to free and discount ebook sites. I have found a lot of books about meals.

Recently, I have found some good Catholic books for low cost or free on Amazon.
 
I have two…one I got in 2013 and the newer model with microsd slot.

I read ebooks and watch movies and tv shows I have purchased.
 
This is my fifth Fire. I do love it. It’s the jazzed up Kindle Fire and has a lot of swell stuff.

I am very happy that ebooks don’t add to the weight of the machine. I have close to 1000 books! = )
 
I pre-ordered a first generation Kindle Fire, so I’ve had one since they came out. I’m on my third. I wish I’d have bought one for each of the kids when they were $35 around Christmas. I use mine for movies, games, music, checking Facebook when the computer is occupied and reading. The newest ones have the Blue Shade option which makes reading in bed much better, especially if anyone’s in the room with you. I still prefer real books but it’s not a bad alternative, especially when I’m reading a book that I also have on the Kindle. I can switch between the book, my Kindle, my phone and my PC when I need to.
 
Maybe I should have said I paid $10 for mine. I saw that Amazon is buying back old Kindles and I traded in mine for a $30 credit. Very easy to do. As I recall, the old one cost about $180. Yikes!.

I have Amazon Prime, too, so lots of movies, TV and music.

Wow, I can’t believe how low the cost has become. It probably costs more to shampoo your dog.
 
You can get a lot of books on Catholicism absolutely free on Kindle. Just go to Amazon.com, click on Kindle in the drop down box, type Catholic in the search engine, and sort by Price: Low to High.

Recently I picked up eight free books that way.

There are also some inexpensive novels by Catholic writers A.J. Avila and Amy Bennett. The ones by Avila are on sale right now.
