Hello everyone!

I’m sure this has been asked before, but for the sake of a father of three young children, I hope you can spare me the time of searching the forms!

I just got a kindle paperwhite and I love it. I want a good Catholic Study Bible and I was hoping to get the Ignatius Press Study Bible but the reviews for the kindle version are awful. Apparently they have not formatted it well and that will cause me to not use it often. I loved there app on Android but the kindle paperwhite is a pure e-reader.

Also, if you know of any website that has bible commentaries that are out of copy write and in PDF format, then please let me know as well!

Thanks all!

I have the Kindle DX e-reader and don’t know if it is like your Kindle but my e-reader doesn’t allow me to enlarge the text when it comes to pdf files. It will only enlarge sections of what you are reading in percentages. It also doesn’t allow the text to voice feature.

Just thought you should know… in case u dont already lol

God bless

Hi, thanks for the reply! I came across the same problem with PDF files and was disappointed but I found out there is a solution. Attach the PDF or PDFs to an email addressed to your kindle email account. You can look this email up on your amazon account. In the subject box you put “convert” and it will automatically convert the PDF files to kindle format files and then you are allowed to adjust the text. This makes life for a Catholic a lot better because you can get all the classics for free 🙂 Let me know if it works for your style kindle.

I have an “old-fashioned” (!) Kindle, and Temple is correct about the way it handles .pdf files (I have my own novel on the Kindle as a .pdf.) However, my wife can read the same file on her Kindle Fire HD, and it treats the .pdf just like any other ebook file. I don’t know about read-out-loud with .pdfs; she doesn’t use that function.

 I’ve no idea what the reviewers are on about. I have the Ignatius Study Bible on my Paperwhite, and I don’t see any problems with the formatting. Admittedly, I actually prefer a DTF bible (as my own method of Scripture reading often has me flipping back and forth, something that the Kindle doesn’t do well), but the Ignatius is a good, serviceable, Kindle version.
