those sermons were right! oh my! i’m going to go say a sinners prayer right now and interpret scripture my own way now! i was so blind!

Do you have any links to information about this. I am curious to find out what MacArthur said that angered these Protestants.John MacArthur has pissed off Protestants, too. He has some very different ideas about the efficacy of the Blood of Christ in the salvation experience. You know, ‘saved by the Blood of the Lamb,’ well, evidently, he doesn’t believe that the Blood saves, or something like that. I heard a preacher rant for quite a few minutes about MacArthur being an heretical, non-Christian.
I know I ran across this yesterday.Do you have any links to information about this. I am curious to find out what MacArthur said that angered these Protestants.
If they didn’t actively try to get Catholics to leave the Catholic Church, their idea of the Savior would be more accurate.I like thier ministry. It’s important that people se thier need for a Savior.
Interesting. If MacArthur was not able to give a satisfactory response to the Protestants who questioned what he wrote, he would probably be equally unable to give a satisfactory response to a Catholic apologist in a debate.I know I ran across this yesterday.
I notice that Catholics like to mock Evangelicals for evangelizing, but answer me this;If they didn’t actively try to get Catholics to leave the Catholic Church, their idea of the Savior would be more accurate.
I have to agree with you there. We do need to evangelize more.I notice that Catholics like to mock Evangelicals for evangelizing, but answer me this;
Why aren’t Catholics out doing the same thing, if they supposedly have the one true Church? At least the Evangelicals are trying to reach out to the lost with the gospel mesage, as Jesus instructed his followers to do.

I found out that my parish actually went door-to-door evangelizing about 5 years before I joined it (I was at another parish at the time). I found out from several friends of mine from Bible study. Since I am on the evangelization committee at my parish, I will suggest that we do that again at our next meeting.I have to agree with you there. We do need to evangelize more.

We already get the names and addresses of all the new people who move into our parish territory and send them out a welcome letter inviting them to our parish. The information is from public records, so we do not know if they are Catholic or even if they are Christian, but we invite them all.I have to agree with you there. We do need to evangelize more.
From 1990 to 2001 the number of Adults who identify themselves as Catholic increased from 46 million to 51 million. That was the most of all religions. The Pentecostal movement came second, with an increase of 1.2 million; from 3.2 to 4.4 million adults. Most other denominations either lost adherents or had moderate gains.I notice that Catholics like to mock Evangelicals for evangelizing, but answer me this;

How many of them were ‘cradle Catholics’? Many of those people professing to be Catholic may have been people who had been raised Catholic, fell away from their faith, and then went back.From 1990 to 2001 the number of Adults who identify themselves as Catholic increased from 46 million to 51 million. From these statistics it is quite clear that the Catholic Church must be doing something right to gain believers; something more than any of the Christian denominations.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I wasn’t “mocking” Kirk Cameron for “evangelizing.” In the post in question, I was criticizing him for being wrong.I notice that Catholics like to mock Evangelicals for evangelizing.
If Kirk Cameron is reaching out to fallen away Catholics, we need to be concern. Those Catholics belong to Christ’s Church. Not Kirk’s Church.Why would any Catholic care about Kirk Cameron and crew?
Those people are already gone.If Kirk Cameron is reaching out to fallen away Catholics, we need to be concern. Those Catholics belong to Christ’s Church. Not Kirk’s Church.
Someone here said that Kirk Cameron doesn’t believe Catholics are Christians.
I agree we should be concerned. If Kirk and Ray can get those Catholics to become part of their way of thinking, surely we can help them back to their faith.If Kirk Cameron is reaching out to fallen away Catholics, we need to be concern. Those Catholics belong to Christ’s Church. Not Kirk’s Church.

Agreed. I see Tom317’s point about ignoring someone like Kirk…but not every one of us should ignore him (see Rm 12:6-8). Some of us should, some shouldn’t.If Kirk Cameron is reaching out to fallen away Catholics, we need to be concern.
I disagree. We should not be concerned about Kirk Cameron. WE should be concerned about people who call themselves Catholic, yet can be pulled away by any number of anti-Catholic speakers and messages. This means these people are NOT Catholic to begin with, they are not being pulled away because they are really not Catholic.Agreed. I see Tom317’s point about ignoring someone like Kirk…but not every one of us should ignore him (see Rm 12:6-8). Some of us should, some shouldn’t.
Kirk and Ray Comfort are distorting Christ’s teaching to draw Catholics from the faith. It’s people like them that gave birth to Catholic Answers…just another self-appointed authority who builds straw men against the Catholic Church and knocks them down.
The better Catholics are informed, the more apparent Kirk and Ray’s poor exegesis becomes with regards to the Church.
So at this point, I think the best defense of the faith is informing more and more Catholics. According to KofC660’s link, I would suggest the likes of modern apologetics is helping minimize misconceptions like Kirk and Ray’s assertions (like how Catholics aren’t even Christian).
